Car Insurance For 17 Year Old Questions.

Im 17 and male (bad combination i know),

At the moment i am insured as a learner driver with collingwood learners who charge me £82.50 a month for fully comprehensive cover as a learner, which is rather cheap.

I am due to take my test in a few weeks and i was looking into how much it was going to cost me as a full licence holder at my age. and i was getting ridiculous quotes of prices in the region of £4000-£7000

By the way, the car is a 1.4 vauxhall corsa sport. (insurance group 6) i know its a larger engine car but my premiums should not be this much surely! Also i live in a rather rough part of birmingham so that doesnt help either.

If i could find a quote for around £2000 then i would find this reasonable, but i just simply cant!

I have spoke to one insurer who have told me to insure it on a provisional first with themselves for around the price of £1700 and then just notify them of passing my test and no extra charges will occur.

Will most companys do this where you dont have to pay any extra charges after passing???

Also if anyone knows of cheap 17 year old insurers then that would be great also.

    All Help Greatly Appreciated
