    Car insurance - claims

Hi, my husband (named driver on my car ins) was driving my car last May (06). A driver ploughed into the back of my car (stationary in a queue at a roundabout) he has since been found guilty.

We were injured, the car was a write off (I received the value of the car). I am finally purchasing another car - do I say that either of us has made a claim as we were not at fault and it is currently going through the other driver's insurance company.

     Look forward to your response.

you have to tell the insurance company that their was a non fault claim on your policy and that the named driver was involved and not at fault.

Thanks for your quick response. There doesn't seem  to be a section to give all that info - at the moment I'm just trying to get quotes.

    Hi there,

There are 2 places where the insurer/broker can put this on their system depending on whether the named driver who had the accident on your policy is now going to be on this new one.

The internet rarely has this option, and therefore you are advised to call up before purchasing the insurance. Please remember to tell them the VALUE of the claim for the write-off and ALSO that INJURY occured.

Hope this helps - and good luck!

Many thanks - followed your advice. Just seems that as an injured passenger I'm getting the hassle and I suppose I need to go through this for the next 4 years.
