Re: Car insurance after a lease car

Thanks very much for the advise. I rung up my previous insurance company and fortunately I had protected my no claims back then and had 8 years protected-this does count as my policy ended in Jan 2006 so under 2 years ago which is a huge relief. I have got a letter from my work saying the only 'claim' made in the period I have had the lease car was for a broken mirror but because it was under the policy excess, it was not put through the insurance company. I also rung another insurance company, Churchill, who were very helpful and they confirmed they would count the previous 8 years no claims and would just make a note of the lease car policy period.

So hopefully won't be paying a fortune for car insurance!

    Many thanks for your replies

    Best wishes

    Nikki

I know from past experience that if you get a leeter from your employer stateing how long you have been driving there cars without any accidents the insurer will class each year as a no claims bonus.

this has happened to a few friends

some companys will still offer you some form of discount if no claim was actually made against the comapny insurance policy..you will still end up paying quite a lot though as you have not got full discount on aprivate car scheme.

you are gonna have to shop around the whole industry on this one as some will offer good rates, some will offer bad and some just wont offer anything at all.

Car insurance after a lease car

    Hi,

Hoping you can help! I have had a lease car with my work for the last 2 years, previous to that I had my car stolen so claimed on my insurance for £300 for loss of car. I have been looking at quotes for a new car which I hope to buy very soon and from a first look I think I may end up paying a fortune for having no claims bonus.  Last year I made to mistake of putting my car through a car wash which resulted in a broken wing mirror. Apparently although it was not put through the company insurance as was under the excess limit, it still counts as a claim as it cost the Trust for whom I work £109.10 but the Insurance company did not have to reimburse the Trust.

I have a letter from my work saying I have been in the lease car scheme for last 2 years and that the only claim was for a mirror damaged in a car wash.

Can you please advise what I can do and whether I will have to pay for car insurance based on no no claims discount?

    Many thanks
