Thanks for your replies. Will call them.

If they still say no, then will wait till I get there and ask at the hotel of any local companies as mentioned by loliloo

    Many thanks again,

    Re: Car Hire Malta

From my understanding there are two specific suppliers I am aware of which are Avis and National which can be booked via a Broker such as Auto Europe or by going direct whom will accept either a cash deposit which is likely to be around £400 or will accept your mothers credit card as a deposit providing she is present at the time of picking up the car. What I would recommend in this instance is before making the booking on line call one of the organisations mentioned above to confirm that they still accept this. I would also recommend you ask them to e-mail or fax you confirmation that they are prepared to accept your mother’s credit card although she will not be the driver to save any issues locally when you pick up the car.

All hotels in Malta can arrange car hire for you, the average price is about 6 lira a day.

What part of Malta are you going too? I love going on Maltese buses and only 20 cent anywhere oneway!

    Car Hire Malta

    Hi,

In May I booked a car for my hols in August in Malta with Budget via this site at a really good price.

I know I should have read the small print in more detail, but have discovered a problem.

As my wife and  I do not own a credit card, my mum ( who is also going on hols with us) booked it with hers.

It is only now that i have noticed that when picking up the car I need to show a credit card in my name as I am going to be driving.

My mum doesnt drive anymore, so cant even be the main driver with me as an extra driver.

Budget were quite unhelpful when i rang and just said all I could do was cancel it at a cost of £20. They didnt seem bothered in losing the sale, as most large companies tend to do.

So, would anyone be able to advise me of a reputable hire company in Malta that would accept payment on a credit card that isnt the main drivers?

    Your help would be appreciated.

    many thanks

    SNTY
