www.autotrader.co.uk will help to find garages and private sellers in your area.

My view is that you don't need finance to get a decent car. Learning how to inspect a car is more important.

They haven't got much money to lend at the moment due to the credit crunch, so lending can be restricted to those with high credit ratings.

Another poster got credit via an independent garage, via the finance deal they offered. If you go to a main dealer e.g. Ford, vauxhall, fiat etc you may have the same problems. But a smaller independent garage may be the solution.

    Car finance

I currently have finance for my car, I have been paying it for 3 years and never missed a payment, I would like to get a new car as I have just had another baby and need a bigger car. I have been refused credit even from my current provider, I have done a credit check and everything seems fine, the only thing I can think is that my credit score is low as I don't have any credit cards or a mortgage. I have applied for loans but been refused. Can anyone give me some advise on what I can do?
