I am just in the same position now buying a new motor but over in SE Asia, it is annoying that the dealers will not take offers on the cars even though they know the credit crunch is starting to affect their economy as well.

One thing I miss is the secondhand car market in England, I bought a 3 year old Citroen C5 (Top of range) for about 30% of new price with 27,000 warranted miles from main dealer in London. Over here most dealers refuse a part/ex and nearly all secondhand cars are knackered or clocked, funnily enough just like Arthur's Car Lot.......

Don't miss your petrol prices though, is Brown the Clown still adding on the taxes?

    butterfly girl:

will not be taking finance at 19 % no matter how many cups of tea were offer

Yes, but you would be surprised how many people will sign up if they increase the price by £2k, put "special edition" stickers on the back and offer 0% finance for a limited period only.

Car companies! Wake up and smell the coffee

It amazes me that we are in the middle of a recession and the car companies are pleading for help from us and the government to bail them out yet you go to buy a car and the prices are still sky high, the finance is plain stupid and the salesmen seem to think that we are all stupid !!!! Surely they all need to wake up and smell the coffee and realise that if they want to survive this recession, keep their work force in jobs and sell cars that they need to stop asking for hand outs, reduce their prices andn remember how low the interest rates are at the moment and that we the consumer are not stupid and will not be taking finance at 19 % no matter how many cups of tea were offer
