    Capped Prices

Hi, I cannot figure out how to get the best price for Gas & Electric dual fuel on a capped price, i tried U Switch but only offered Scottish Power which is more than my current Eon tariff. Cut the long story short what is the cheapest capped dual fuel supplier and how do i get it

    Rick.

    Re: Capped Prices

There may well be only three capped deals left. Many capped tariffs have been withdrawn because of the imminent increases.

The best capped price is, naturally, higher than your current tariff. That is the nature of a capped tariff - you pay slightly more now to safeguard you from an even larger difference further on when prices go up. The gamble is that the increases (on uncapped tariffs) will be much higher than the starting premium - and all the reports that in the current market that is what will happen. Unfortunately you've left it two or three months too late - not only are tariffs being withdrawn the remaining ones have already gone up in price and are due to go up again. And the lengths of the deals are shortening.

If moneysupermarket and uswitch tell you Scottish Power is cheapest chances are they are.

Why do we all not go out and get a generator to produce our own electricity petrol or diesel is cheaper than Generated Electricity see what the power companies do then.

    Good idea

BG have just started a fix to 9/2011 I might look at as opposed to Ebico I use now but am very happy generally with Ebico must say.

    Re: Capped Prices

Think carefully before going for a capped price deal at higher than standard prices as oil prices are on the slide. They were $147 in July now they are $119 and likely to fall to $109 and stay there all next year according to Bloomberg. These recent rises cannot stick and will be reversed.

    Re: Capped Prices

I agree, however if you cap with Eon's Price Protection 16 (if it's still available) there are no tie-ins or cash penalties for changing to another provider and they guarantee to pass on any price reductions if they occur. You also get Tesco Clubcard points so you can compensate for any extra cost by converting these to 'Deals' at four times their worth. I couldn't find a better deal anywhere.

    Re: Capped Prices

Already on EON's capped energy saver tariff until Oct 2009 but that is of little comfort.

We are all being ripped off. British gas are extracting the urine.. Oil has come down 20% since July so why have they put up gas prices by 42% if you pay by direct debit? Its a total disgrace and the government should do something about it soon or call an election.

    Re: Capped Prices

I have not yet spoken to BG re thier 2011 fix but a friend of mine has switched to them at £67 pa more than was already paying with her provider, I cant imagine them being so close to my figures now, comparison sites come up with figures of between £296pa more and £126 more but think I need my current provider kwh info for an accurate guide.

    Re: Capped Prices

Just capped my Gas & Electricity with my current provider Eon, it cost me an extra £5.00p.m. It's availabe for new and existing customers but do it now especially if you are already with Eon as i understand they will bw increasing prices within 2 weeks. But dont quote me on that...Either way i'm paying £74.00pm until Oct 2009 and i'm in credit.
