Re: can you write off credit cards
Can you clarify what you mean? Do you mean write off unpaid debts on your card? Was this not referring to The Insolvency Act 2002 maybe?

Re: can you write off credit cards
To be honest I'm kind of not entirely sure, I heard an ad on the radio while driving and basically they said if you've had a credit card from since 2002 you can write it off and |I didn't get the chance to take down any details so I'm trying to find out if anyone has heard of thisor anything on the issue Thanks

Re: can you write off credit cards
It is quite possible to write off credit card and loan debts if they are unenforceable, and quite a few of them are. They have to have been taken out before 1/4/07. Cartel are one of the companies that may be able to help, however they do charge £495.00 upfront for the first case, a lower amount for subsequent cases and 25/30% at the back end. This is a very expensive way to do it, there are better alternatives.

Re: can you write off credit cards
Hi There, Having worked in the financial market for around 11 years, when i came across your particular situation i was intregued by some of the seemingly irelevant replies which have been posted. Numenus refers to the insolvency act 2002? this particular act was itself written off around 2 years ago as there were so many pitfalls around unmanagable cases. However, having looked into the situation in more depth than it would seem anyone else has, i have managed to find that there is something which may be possible. When applying for your credit cards in future, explain to the advisor who is processing the application that you are looking for a card which you do not have to pay anything back ever, when you spend on it. this is something which i came across during my time studying financial law. Coco

Re: can you write off credit cards
hi many thanks for the reply. i am about to embark on this road. not clearing credit cards, as the company take £125 upfront, then a £250 successful claim fee PLUS 30% of money cleared. too much for me. but i am going to claim for secured loans and redeemed mortgages of which i have a few. cost £495 and nothing else. regard tom

Re: can you write off credit cards
Tom Before you part with £495.00 for potential claims on mortgages and secured loans. There is an alternative with a much lower upfront fee, and no other fee that will do exactly the same job. It would be much easier to explain with a conversation rather than a longwinded message on here. So why not give me a buzz on XXXX This post has been moderated. Re: can you write off credit cards
Tom, Do yourself a favour, instead of paying fees to rip off companies who miracously claim to wipe out or reduce most of your debt give CCCS a call who are a free (charity) debt counselling service who will explain all the options available to you, the consequences (ie effect on credit rating) and most importantly won't try to persuade you to do whatever makes THEM the most money!. CAB may also be worth a call. By putting your e-mail address on here all you will contacted by is people touting for business looking to make money out of you!!.

Re: can you write off credit cards
There is a way to prevent purchases appearing on your statement. You need to be entering your PIN with your left hand with your right little finger in your left ear standing on one leg and humming "Flower of Scotland". If you can do this, you can buy as many things as you want and they wont get charged to your statement. I've just bought a bloke in a pub a drink in return for this information but it must be right because yesterday he told me the correct numbers for last weeks lottery but I didn't buy the ticket in time.
