i wonder why you are a ex phones for you eomploye!!

Wouldnt trust that company as far as i can see the world when on the big wheel in manchester.

That company is like the high street version of trotters independant traders, full of 21st century wise guys in smart suits who will do anything to get a sale, they once debited £50 from my wifes account as some sort of alternative to a credit check then said it would only take 3 days to refund, actually it took seven and my wife nearly went overdrawn as a result!!

Some of the stores they have in manchester dont exactley offer what they advertise, the one on 2nd floor of manchester arndale centre advertised a contract offer for £15 per month,we didnt find out that it was only for the 1st six months of a 18 month contract untill after they debited my wifes account of the £50,i call that false advertisint at best and downright misleading at worst.

Whta you gotta say about that stu, isolated incident you might say, dont think so,i know plenty of others who have had similar experiances, all the mobile phone companies are it,they employ people who act in the same way as car salesman.

Thank you for coming on Stu and getting the usual first response, sorry about that!! I do hope that you will use your experience by assisting existing customers in the correct method for applying for cash backs and other services. This will be a help to those unfortunate customers who have been taken in by the cash back schemes and unfortunately still are. It will also help the suspicious members reading if you could give us a few examples of how the company declines these requests, we all know they have systems in place but to hear it from the horse's mouth, so to speak will create that confidence needed to keep this post going. I do understand how mobile phone companies work, I had one for a year and realized that to keep going you basically have to be a crook, so I got out with no customer complaints but a large debt...more fool me....but I do know the scams and will be watching this thread closely.

    Regards

Re: Can I help with anyones problems? Ex Phones 4 U employee!

Im an ex-employee because i reached the furthest i could. As it goes you say the company is a bunch of cowbays, In a way you are correct.. There are a few individuals that are like that but you get that in all areas of sales. I have joined to help people get out of there problems. Regards to your wifes problems....

    1) It was not £50 they took but £60 pound which is used by merchant services to cover your identification as your PIN number will create a transaction which will ask the bank for your address and as long as this is correct it will pass. And if it took seven days then this was done around a weekend as its 3 Working Days.

2)It is not against the law to state that some is £15 pounds per month as long as it states T&C apply. And if you knew that you would ask 'What are the terms and conditions, The company it self is a great company and I have run numerous branches to success including reciving 3 prizes for customer excellance and recieving an award from JD Power. If you do comment on my post's please use facts as i cannot help unless i know the complete truth.

If your wife did recieve a Overdraft fee you can go to your local store as long as you have proof of this on paper (bank staement) then you are entitled to a Gesture of Good Will for this.

    Regards

    Stu

Yes I have to ask why the attitude to this guy RED ?

He comes on here offering to help people with problems involving this company and you tear into him as if he were an ex-director of the company or has something to hide.

Did you stop to think maybe... just maybe.. they have also fiddled him out of money or sacked him wrongfully or treat him badly also, or that he his just hoping he can help get some of our innocent members the justice they require or the help and useful advice they need, which only an insider could provide.?

Lighten up and stop being so confrontational. !!!

Re: Can I help with anyones problems? Ex Phones 4 U employee!

my point is stu it never said t+Cs apply, and they still mislead my wife over the cash refund.

I apologise for my joke about being a ex employee, didnt mean to sound confrontational.

I know about laws about retail price,i have worked in retail before,i should have reported the store to trading standards but unless they recieved huge number of complaints about the same subject ,they generally just file complaints.

At least you admit that my point about the company being a bunch of cowboys is sort of correct in your eyes, however you failed to recognise that fact the problem is as widespread in mobile phone sales as it is in car sales.

Sorry stu but you will never change my perception of the company and im glad you had the sense to leave.

Well done for your work at phones for you and hope you can use your expo from there on here to good effect.

Re: Can I help with anyones problems? Ex Phones 4 U employee!

    Thank you for this welcome.

    Regarding Cheque Back

Cheque backs are a great way of getting a high minute and text deal with a reduced cost. The honest way to make sure is that you need the amount of Mins and Text you apply for. Dont go for a tariff because of the cheque!

All Chequeback deals have rules you must adhere to complete the redemption.

    1) make multiple copys of the redemption paperwork, And keep a copy in file!

2)Read the information and get the Consultant selling you the phone what Bills and Paperwork is need to be sent.

3)Find the Adress it must be sent to which is always the Company you purchase from.

4)Cut off dates, These are the dates you must reply you redemption form within.

5)Send 'recorded delivery' - It must be signed for and records are kept with Royal Mail! This will stop any 'We didnt recieve it' Lines. Plus this has a £500 compensation if lost so if you do lose it you will be compinsated.

    Phones 4 u

The cut of date is 60 days after the redemption date.

Example - 15th Feb is Redemption Date...it must reach head office by 15th April.

    Any questions please ask!

    Regards

    Stu.

    Thank you for your apology.

Trading standards would be the wrong company always go Ofcom as they specilise in Telecommunications. This is their playground and will know more scams and problems out in the telecommunication world.

Re: Can I help with anyones problems? Ex Phones 4 U employee!

hi, i got a phine with p4u in sept i got a samsung u600 on t-mobile £35 a month!! now p4h say they give you the best deals well that is a load of ***!!! one month my fne bill was over £300!!! so i was walking around WOLVERHAMPTON (which is where i got my contract from) and i was walking past the shop when one if the sales guys started talking to me! I had told him bout my fne bill and told me to come inside n that they wud sort sumfin out 4 me! so i went inside n got a new sony walkman fne on orange for £45 a month! Bearing in mind im a student studing full time at uni!! they already new i had a fne but did't care about that! With p4u they have a 14 day return policy so i took it back well within the 14 days they told me that they couldn't do anything as the manager wasn't their to authorise it! also they guy who was dealing with me jus got up and walked around the shop with my fne talking to other members of staff and customers!! so i decide to call my mom!!! i told my mom what they had said and she went mad!!! So i went back in as my mom had phoned them!! and they had told her that they would cancel my contract with orange! but when i went back in they told as the fne was scratched on the back they wouldn't be able to cancel my contract!!! i told them that the phone was fine when i packed it up that morning but i was told that " it couldn't of been a member of staff because they could but sacked because it was gross misconduct!! and i was told to go back the following day when the manager was in. So i went back to speak top the manager who had been their when i had taken this contract out and he said that he couldn't cancel it due to the scratch on the back!! n i told him that it was fine before i brought it in! i basically got fobbed off!! My mom called and asked for the area manager's number but Michael ( manager at p4u Wolverhampton) told her that their wasn't a area manager! in the end my mom phined Trading Standards and they have told us that no matter waht the condition of the phone is they should still take it back! can u believe that there is ONE person at Trading Stardards that deals with p4u complaints!!! I still have the phone contract, im still having bills come through which im not paying n i have been told that if i dnt pay i will be cut of i told them be my guest as im not using it!!! I know a few people who have had the same prmblem at the Birmingham store and at the Wolverhampton store. its just a f*****g joke! 3 people had my phone when i went to cancel it but they are blaming me!! why would i do it when i wanted to cancel it??

Re: Can I help with anyones problems? Ex Phones 4 U employee!

Wolverhampton Branch seems to be pulling a fast one. Have you done a written complaint to there head office?

I would advise go back to the branch ask for all of their names. Especially the one who told you/your mum there is no Area Manager as there is actually an Area Manager and a Divisional Director! Ask for the GSM's Name (GEneral Store Manager) explain that this is a major complaint as this effects their Bonus as well as Customer Excellence Score which is taken very highly. Written complaint is a formal route and also contact Ofcom. If 3 members of staff touched it...Stick by your guns and accuse them that they must have damaged it as they were willing to return it if a manager was there but now of of a sudden there is a Scratch!

    Steps you must take

    1) Names, Times and Info given to you.

    2) Contact head office by telephone explaining that you are unhappy. (just to keep it on record)

    3) Contact Trading Standards again and Send a written complaint to P4U head office.

Please do not get dis-heartened...If you continue to pursue they have to reply.

All letters sent to head office must to replied to within 28days by call or by letter.

Contact Orange and explain the reason why you are not paying as this will be marked on the account so if they contact the network it is logged with them!

    Regards

    Stuart

Re: Can I help with anyones problems? Ex Phones 4 U employee!

    Hello Stu,

The screen on my Samsung E250 appears to be broken. I can find plenty of people on ebay selling replacement screens (and plenty of posts from people reporting a similar problem) but I can't find instructions on how to remove the old screen and insert the new one. Do you know where I might find help with this? Thanks.

Re: Can I help with anyones problems? Ex Phones 4 U employee!

Hi Stu, i am hoping you can give me some advice because i have had a terrible time with Phones4u/Orange!! In August 07 i was sold a phone in the Warrington Phones4u branch, £35 a month on Orange and was told by the salesman i had 28 days to cancel, i returned to the branch 14 days later as my Orange bill came in at £40 a month and i also had a faulty phone plus the signal on my phone was really bad. I was told by another salesman that the £40 was just a one off for my first month and to come back with the box for the phone and if i'm still not happy they will cancel the contract for me- he also said i had 28 days!! I returned and spoke to the manager, i said i want to cancel and he said no chance!! I was told incorrect info from his employees he also would not replace my handset and said to contact Orange if i had a fault with it! I left the shop in tears as i couldn't believe what i had been told. I called Orange and they said i had a network fault on my phone, but the call went dead becuase of my signal and the problem was never resolved. Since then i have written/telephoned Phones 4 u and Orange complaining and tried to cancel my contract but have got nowhere and have still been receiving bills of £40 a month form Orange which i haven't paid because i had to retrun to my old network Provider 02 with my old phone as the Phones4 u phone was faulty and i couldn't use it. I have now been cut off with Orange and have been sent a letter from dlc requesting payment of £650, i'm absolutely gutted as all i have tried to do is sort the matter out and have got nowhere with either company. Both Phones4u and Orange say they can't liase with eachother regarding this matter because of Data Protection and each company just tells me to call the other company!! Please can you advise me as i am so worried about this, especially as i could be taken to court over it and Phones4u are taking no responsibility for it, they say i can't prove what i was told by the salesman. Where do i go from here?? Please help. Heather.

Re: Can I help with anyones problems? Ex Phones 4 U employee!

My Daughter has a contract via Phones 4U with Vodaphone. She's only had it a month. She doesn't have broadband in her new flat, so she asked in the Hartlepool Phones 4U shop about connecting to the internet via her mobile, and how much it would cost. She was told that it would be about £1 per day. She has just received a bill from Vodaphone for over £1000! That is for less than 3 weeks use - surely that can't be right? Don't Vodaphone have a fraud check system to alert them to excessive uses? Is there anyone she can appeal to to have this bill reviewed? Does she have any comeback on Phones4U? How about contacting OFTEL? Any help from anyone is greatly appreciated.

Re: Can I help with anyones problems? Ex Phones 4 U employee!

My wife has 13 months of an 18 month contract with 3 left to run. She has complained about the lack of signal, but not until a few months after entering the contract because it took her until then to realise what the problem was - the signal not her being a technophobe. 3 have said they won't/can't do anything. Usage of the phone would only ever be light but this isn't even possible. Will any other provider take the contract over? (she only pays £15 per month but this is just money down the drain. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
