What did you receive the ban for and when does it expire. ? They usually take it off you.

If the ban is currently in force you are still disqualified from driving therefore obtaining insurance in your name, irrespective of still having the licence the ban will still be on the DVLA database.

Re: Buying Car Insurance Whilst Banned? Help!

i still hold both parts of my driving liscence and i have them with me at all times, also there is no record of my ban as i attended classes and such and did community service and my slate has been wiped clean. also if the answer is still no would i not be able to obtain a joint policy with my wife but declare that i will only be driving the car when my ban is over so for example, i will only be driving legally 3 months into the policy. thanks

You have to hold a licence and declare this to obtain insurance, so the answer is, No.
