Lookers are quoting a ceed 1.4 from £7995 with the £2000 scrappage taken off.

If you contact them and get a quote for what you want, your local garage will I am sure negotiate. If not lookers, do deliveries nationwide. Car sales have picked up due to the scheme, but still not enough, so garages will do deals.

Push the garage until they are on their knees, 12 monthsTax, 1/2 tank of petrol, free car mats. Also they may be able to negotiate the finance %apr if you have an alternative. They may be reluctant to start of with but any no will be half hearted, so don't take a no as a final answer. If they show you out of the garage, then they definately mean no.

Re: Buying a new kia ceed

Thank you both for your replies.

Veloxuk I totally hear what you are saying the finance he quoted wasn't extortinate it was just more expensive than getting the money elsewhere. :-)

Sorry if this is a silly question.

I have looked on lookers and they show the same model for £9995. Now in theory could the dealer take the govt £1000 and the dealer £1000 off this price??? It does say there is £1700 off already. Also should I expect to get a years tax.

    Maybe I am being greedy!!!

Have a look at lookers.co.uk. Give them a call and if cheaper your garage may be willing to match.

It used to work that way, but my recent experience has led me to think different. Garages make money for every finance deal they secure. Im not that sure if most with offer any more than a tank of fuel.

    Buying a new kia ceed

I am loking to buy a new kia ceed. This will be my first time buying a brand new car and if poss would like some tips. I will be taking advantage of the govt scrappage deal. I went into my local dealer today for a look around and see how much roughly it would cost.

The sales man was straight in with, well we have a sp ed 1.4 SR7 which would cost less than another one (cant remember the model!!) and you get more for your money. So it would be silly to advise you to get the more expensive one.

He showed me the car blabbled on and on. Anyway I like the car and am very interested in it. I asked about the govt deal and finance. He came back with some figures. £11570 is the cash price £2000 off for deal so £9570 to pay. The finance he offered was over priced so I went away to think about it.

I have now decided to get a loan so I will be able to pay for a car outright.

How much do you think I could haggle, what would be a reasonable amount for the dealer to reduce the "cash price" by? As I have said I have never been in this situation before so would appreciate any advise or tips on making the right choice.

    Many thanks
