    Re: Building and content insurance

If there is a mortgage on your mother's home, the lender will probably want the buildings insurance to be in the name of whoever has the mortgage, but your mother may be able to go on as a joint applicant. The best thing would be to check with the lender and the proposed insurer. If there is no mortgage, again I would speak directly to the proposed insurer. I would imagine that since she is a member of your family it should be fine to do it the normal way as long as your insurer is aware of the circumstances.

    Building and content insurance

I would like to ask the expert Andy Leadbetter this question concerning Buildings and Contents Insurance.

This question has been posted before and moved to Buildings and Contents forum, but I thought I was posing my question directly to Andy Leadbetter, Moneysupermarket's insurance expert.

My wife and I are now owners of my mother in laws home, can she continue to insure the buildings and contents or must we now insure the building as a landlord and she insure the contents as a tenant? (separate insurances)
