Can't help noticing you've been given a somewhat unsympathtic hearing.

You are right that the so called improved BT bills are still pretty difficult to understand. Not sure why you get separate phone and broadband bills, I get a single difficult to understand bill. However not sure that alone is good grounds to switch. That's the only criticism I have.

Switching service uses a mechanism OFCOM have agreed and both the gaining and losing company should operate. When you received the "warning" letter from BT, contractually you were still in a position to cancel the transfer. You need not have taken out a new "contract" with BT. If that is what happened at the right to cancel stage something has gone wrong. If you were "mislead" by losing company that is wrong.

Discuss this with Ofcom. I am certain the presumption is you should be able to retain your number and can't find obvious OFCOM guidance on that except for house moves where a change of area might make number retention impossible.

    Re: BT Phone Line

It does say in BT's Ts & Cs

"If we provide you with a phone number, you agree to the following..........you do not own the phone number" so they can do what they like.

Might have something to do with Sky rolling out full LLU similar to Talktalk and they may not have a agreement with them allowing number transfer between networks.

Then again they might just be covering their backs in case there is a hiccup.

What they've done is say that you "may" not be able to keep your number. It was likely that you would have been able to keep it but they've not told you anything untrue. As you've signed up for another contract with BT, you'll have to stick with that (unless you can cancel under the distance selling regulations).

    BT Phone Line

I have been with BT now for just over a year, with my phone and broadband. Their bills are unreadable and you are sent one for your phone and one for your broadband, WHY?

So I decided to transfer all of this, Phone, Broadband, and join up with my Sky TV. Sky offered me a fab deal, all was done. I was told by Sky to contact BT to get a mac code with them, for my broadband. The next thing I know I have a letter from BT saying they were sorry to see me go, but the main problem was they said I may not be able to keep my phone no, now my telephone number is very important to me, and I did not want to loose it, surely this is a form of blackmail by them. I had to cancell SKY and take out a new contract with BT. Are they allowed to do this?
