Re: BT line. Do I need one to get connected?

    Hi Eli

If you have a BT and NTL box in your new house that means you can connect to either BT or Virgin Media. If you go with BT it will cost £128 or Virgin Media will cost £25.

You may want to go with Virgin Media to avoid the high upfront cost but be aware that if you want to switch to any other provider you'll have to fork out £128 to get back on to the BT network again.

    Cheers

BT line. Do I need one to get connected?

I've just moved into a new flat. New to me, not new as in just built.

I  think I've decided on Utility Warehouse "Broadcall Plus" broadband/phone package, as it seems like the best deal for me. So I phoned them up to get connected, and they ask for my BT phone number. I don't have one. They say I must have a BT number before they can switch me to their service.

My flat has a little BT box (as well as a little NTL box) on the wall, so I'd imagine I would only need it "switched on", no new wires need to be laid. How much would this cost? Is there any alternative?

The only other provider I see has a really good deals is Virgin, but I'd imagine they also need a number....

    Help!
