    BT help

Having returned to the uk in July i had to get a new provider so went to talk talk who were going to put me on a anytime package as i wanted 1 low payment to cover call to NZ/UK and Mobiles, all seemed ok until i found out that the existing line in the house had to be changed because i did not have a MAC code,Was told i had to have new line put in,gave ok and then was told that BT could match Talk Talk offer.re calls/cost.All contract details sent and to be honest i never looked and the 1st bill i got was around £160 which was i thought high but not uncommon for us.

Anyway the next bill i get is £466 so i call BT only to be told it had to be paid and thats that, not 1 to give up i call again and explain that it should not be this high and then find out that i am on a completely different tariff to the 1 i thought and that i firstly had to specifically ask for international call saving plan and also ask for mobile saving plan....this has taken me numerous calls to get to this and still they say i owe and that because i did not call up on my first invoice to complain its my fault.

I also said i was going to cancel my contract to which they replied that i was still liable...has anybody got any ideas how i can get out of this mess.

    Thanks

    Re: BT help

An itemised bill should make it clear what you've been charged for.

If they promised something and then didn't deliver, you should explain things in writing stating that the bill is disputed with your full reasons. Any important correspondence should be sent by recorded delivery.

It is possible that BT will want to push you into paying with red letters and threats of disconnection. How far you want to dig your heels in is up to you but you could, if you wanted to take things that far, suggest that failing any other agreement you would be willing for the matter to be put before a magistrate for him/her to decide.

You need not be paying more than 2p per minute for calls to New Zealand if you Google for "cheap international calls" and it might be worth looking into something like this until everything has been clarified by BT.
