BT Contract Renewal on House Move

Hi All, from what ive been reading in the forum i cant see much light at the end of the tunnel for my problem, but thought i would share what i've experienced so far.

I've been with BT for over 5 years now, line and broadband and to be honest i've never had a problem regarding either of them, I've moved house 4 times during this time and never once had any changes to my contact.. until now.

When i moved last (in the last three months) my line was installed and my broadband moved over (which is option 3). I spoke with a member of the BT Vision team regarding the service and was informed that my "plan" was quite old and would i be interested in getting BT Vision - same as Option 3, cheaper monthly rental, free vision box, etc, etc. I agreed and left it at that and expected my Vision box to come through the post... its been three months now and still a no show.

I rang BT a week ago regarding this and got spiel about the software being down and they couldnt do anything and would call me back in the next 48 hours... no call back.

Called again today to ask them about it and was informed that im not even down as having BT Vision (still option 3). But that i do currently have a new 11 months contract with them?!?

What i gleaned from about 8 different people and 4 different departments is that the Vision order never went through, the renewal of contract did (though as to why its 11 months and not 12 is a mystery), i was then informed the contract change is due to repricing of Option 3 to a cheaper monthly rate to which i explained that i have not had a change in monthly rate.

Finally a Customer Representative that i could hardly understand said that if i move house that my contract is automatically renewed for 12 months at which point i gave up. Any one know if this is the case ? this was never explained to me and ive had no documentary evidence to account for this.

So all in all im now stuck with an 11 month contract with BT, no change in service at the same price.

I can honestly say that i feel like they've lubed me up good and proper and hung me up on a pole to dry.

According to BT, "Any term remaining on your existing contract will be transferred to your broadband service at your new address. However, if this term is less than three months, a new three-month term will apply at your new address".

Line rental is different whereby you may well have a new 12 month contract.

Thats what i thought, i dont mind the term on my line rental, thats fine, but to place me on a 11 months contract with broadband when ive had it for over 5 years just didnt sound right to me.

Thing is trying to explain that to Customer Service.
