    Hi highspeedtrain25,

It sounds like you're on quarterly billing, which means we charge you three months in advance for your services. This doesn't mean that your contract has been automatically renewed.

If you decide to move to another provider, you'll get a final bill and any rental paid in advance after your account with us is stopped will be automatically refunded back.

If you'd like me to take a look at this, you can send over your details though our "Contact us" form at:

    Thanks,

    Stephanie

They certainly shouldn't have renewed your contract, but they may try to catch you with a rolling contract. BT and others normally bill in advance for service charges, and in arrears for calls, but none of this should affect your right to move. I find it difficult to get any sense out of BT particularly if they use out of UK call centres. Try to call when they switch you to UK centres.

BT charging in advance for dates that are after my contract expires

    Hi,

I'm nearly at the end of an 18-month contract with BT for phone and broadband - it expires on December 7th. I want to switch to another provider because I'm finding the contract too expensive and I can get a better deal elsewhere, but I've been waiting until the end of the contract period so I don't get hit with extra charges.

However, I've just had a bill from BT, and I've been charged for both phone and broadband up until February 12th! Does this mean they've renewed my contract without telling me? If not, if I switch will I get refunded the charges for phone and broadband that I won't be using?

Thanks in advance for any advice or help you can offer.
