    Broadband for a Mac

    Hi there!

I sometimes work for home using a MacBook so I need a reliable internet connection (BT is no good for macs).
    Any recommendations???

I presently use a Virgin media package and the broadband part is £20 which seems a bit steep? And to be honest I don't really need the TV or the phone! It kinda irks to pay line rental

    Breakdown costs:-
    £20 broadband M
    £11 Line rental
    £3.45 eve and weekends
    £5.50 TV M+ starter
    £20 M Broadband
    £1.25 paper bill charge

    Thanks for your time.

    Re: Broadband for a Mac

    Hi JoSa,

I've got a Mac at home using a BT broadband connection and (touch wood) never had any problems - although it helps to know what you're doing from a technical point of view (doesn't it always!)

As far as recommending another provider goes, O2 get positive reviews on a regular basis (no doubt someone will now prove me entirely wrong!) but as you've already pointed out, it's about knowing what you need and what you don't require - such as TV, phone etc - plus things like speed, the quality/speed of your router and whether you're using it over a wireless connection. If your router is one that BT provided free of charge, depending on its age it could be affecting the speed. IIRC, MacBook's use wireless N and some older router's don't support it.

I hope that helps. Does anyone else have any helpful suggestions?

Thanks Graeme. Interesting that BT broadband now supports macs. To reduce my costs I just have to convince my son that he can live without Cartoon Network!
    Thanks again x

Ah, very good luck with that! I suspect that may be much easier said than done...!
