    Yes, broadband should work out much cheaper than dial-up for any significant use and some of the providers offer monthly commitment or longer. Might be also worth looking at yearly contract, with acceptable cancellation terms.

    Hi

    please excuse my ignorance im a novice with computors broadband etc,my stepfather who is in his 80s owns a laptop and very occassionaly will use dial up internet.Because he has just suffered another stroke and will be spending more time at home i had thought about getting him the internet as a christma gift,im getting told its not worth getting it unless i go for broadband,opinions please,and is it possible to buy it by the month i didnt really want to be tied into a 12-18 month contract,any ideas where i should be looking please.
