It's worth checking the meter. It should not move when everything is off and you can check how much it records in 24 hours. It's possible to use that sort of amount if you use electricity for heating.

British Gas (Electric) energy usage/meter issues.

Think I have a problem with my meter. I switched from a key meter to a standard meter on the 22nd Feb 2008 and in that time up until 10.30pm today (23rd Oct) and according to the meter we have used 3702.3 units/kw/h in that time. The first and current bill total over £400 which even with price hikes seems excessive. I had my mate who is an electrician look at it and he said even in he's house where there are 5 people they don't get through as much as that. British Gas so far have been bloody useless as the bint on the end of the phone said it seems a little high and that was it. There are 2 of us at home, one leaving at 7am and me leaving at 9 am both back by 6 pm. Between the hours of 10 pm and 9 am we seem to be using more electric when we're sleeping then we are during the rest of the time.

Am I being paranoid or is it a little excessive???

    Cheers.
