I am afraid it is fair. Unfortunately within the T&C of the majority of energy suppliers long term fixed contracts their are premiums and penalties for leaving the plans earlier. However, some suppliers, dont charge these penalties if u stay with them, but say for example, switch to another one of their products, say BG's Websaver 1 which would now possibly save u money. However all the T&C should have been explained to you at the time you took out the contract and in the paperwork you could have been sent.
