    Bradford & Bingley International

    Hi Everyone

I have recently moved abroad, and as such have to close some of my existing savings accounts as they only service UK residents. After some research, I opened an online account with Bradford & Bingley International, Isle of Man.

However, the account opening process did not leave me feeling very comfortable as absolutely everything was done online, and I never received a hard copy of a contract or account opening documents. Basically, apart from a few emails (which really could have been written and sent by any Tom, Dick or Harry), I have no physical documents proving that I have an account with them.

Whilst I understand that it is an e-savers account, hence all performed electronically, I strongly feel that one should at least have some physical evidence that an account has been opened. In my previous experience with other internet banks, e.g. Cahoot, I always received some kind of paper, at least in the account opening stages.

All I received was an email with the bank wire instructions, and details of how to transfer cash into my newly opened BBI account.

I have raised this with them both via email and via telephone but unfortunately I was told that this is their procedure, and that no hard copy documents are ever issued for internet accounts.

Therefore, my question is whether or not anyone has had any experience with BBI or if anyone has ever opened an internet account with no hard copy documentation whatsoever.

    Thanks to everyone in advance!

    R
