Have you checked your meter? Did you really use that much?

    Re: Bizzarre bill

I admit it was some time before I relaised, but a lot was going on in my life. Scotish power don't send many bills and I had not signed up for online at the time. Its easy done, and it wasnt 3 years it was when all the price hikes happened.

    Croxdene:

with out any notice or discussion the £85 was reduced to £27 this was for both Electricity and Gas When I discovered what had happened I was £2500 in debt.

That couldn't have happened unless you failed to check either your bank account or your energy bills for over 3 years.

    Bizarre indeed.

    Re: Bizzarre bill

I had a similar experience with Scottish Power. I was in credit and asked for the money to be sent to me (£700) I discussed the level of my Direct debit and with out any notice or discussion the £85 was reduced to £27 this was for both Electricity and Gas When I discovered what had happened I was £2500 in debt. I think this is so you can't move to other suppliers. I'm still not clear and they are now one of the most exspensive providers. Beware!

queen1984:hi just joined scottish power and the first bill i recieved was for 3 weeks and was £85.00, electricity only! this seems really excessive to me, then they said they would set the dd up for £31.00 amonth!! i've changed to online billing but that only saves 15%! i've requested an increase on the dd to £85.00 a month but i'm worried i will fall into arrears and end up in debt with yet another utilities company! ( was with eon, they lowered the d/d without telling us and as result was in mass arrears! i mean, why lower a d/d over winter?!). anyone here with a bit of advice on how to manage this??

Is it an estimeted bill or actual reading showing from your meter?

What you need to do for starters is to work out your last actual consumption in kWhrs. If you cannot tell from previous bills your previous supplier would be very unhelpful if they did not tell you when asked.
