Santander are currently offering an instant access savings account ( Esaver 4 ) which you can run online and i believe over the phone, there is an interest bonus for 12 months which gives a total interest of 3.10%. Interest can be payed monthly or yearly and there are no restrictions on how many withdrawls you make.

Also Santanders british arm is registered in the UK so your savings are protected by the FSA (up to 85k).

an online account with an added 12 month bonus. Some allow up to 4 withdrawals per year without penalty. There are a few out there which give a rate of between 3.00% and 3.15%. Know it's nothing too great, but have been searching for one myself and this is as good as it gets, unless you want to tie up your money for up to 5 years (which I think would be a big mistake).

Best place for short term savings?

Can anyone advise me on the best place to put my savings for a short period of time (6-12 months)? It is not a huge amount of money, but it seems such a waste to have it sitting in my BOS account (generous as they are at 0%!). I'm just wary of having it tied up for too long when I hope to put it to good use in the not too distant future - is there any nice middle ground out there?
