    Im 23 and my wife is 24,no children,wife is a 10 day smoker.

    Can anyone recomend a good insurer.

    NO current health problems.

    Hello

    I'm 25 and my good lady is also 25. We don't smoke and have only taken out life insurance not critical illness cover. I went to see Barclays and via Noriwch Union I pay £9.38 a month for a pay out covering my mortgage which is 143k.

    Any of the big 2 insurers.  Legal & General or NU will always come out cheapest.

    cool.think ive tried norwich union and they refused cover because my partner who is a smoker once had a problem with her throat and her airways that wasnt even caused by smoking.

    BUPA are usually a bit more expensive but are a bit more sensible on underwriting.

    Thanks for that,didnt know they did lfie insurance,id be more inclined to go with them if as you say their underwriting is more sensible.

    Plus bupa are more trustworthy than the likes of barclays and direct line.

    Bright Grey have pretty good underwriting as well. They can also write the policy as '2 separate lives' so if you die, your partner can keep her cover too.
