    Re: Bahamian Dollar travel money

I haven't been to the Bahamas, but I suspect that if the currencies are at parity, you may find that taking US dollars could be the answer. You may be able to spend US dollars easily enough, or exchange them at a much better rate locally than buying them here in the UK.

    Anybody actually been there?

    Bahamian Dollar travel money

The Bahamian Dollar is officially tied in parity with the US Dollar. However, I have found that the number of Bahamian Dollars that can be purchased in the UK for a given sum in sterling is far less than the number of US Dollars.

I am also advised not to bring Bahamian Dollars back to the UK, as they will not have the same exchange value as US Dollars.

Does this apply only to Bahamian Dollar bills? If I use a sterling debit or credit card in the Bahamas will the exchange rate levied by the issuing company be the same as if I were making the equivalent transaction in the US?

Can Bahamian Dollars be exchanged for the same number of US Dollars before leaving the Bahamas, eg at the airport?

Any advise would be most appreciated
