When you become a high risk credit card holder than you can not get credit card any longer. Banks want their money back. I do not think they do (or can) advertise at what ag they will stop issuing the card because that may go against them (ageism - bad publicity) but age almost certainly will be a factor for many.

The only rule relating to the age of people applying for a credit card is that they must be over 18. Other factors such as income will be taken into consideration by the card issuer when they make the decision to accept or decline your application and the amount of credit they are prepared to give. So if your income levels do not meet a issuer’s minimum criteria, then your application for a credit card may be declined.

At what age do they start refusing credit.

I am 64 and retired, my huband is 71 and retired. We have £15,000 on credit cards, mostly at 0%. We are paying off £500 per month. We are rate tarts, but I am getting worried. At what age do the companies start refusing credit.. I have read your articles and started closing credit cards which are not in use, but is there a rule of thumb about age. And is there a general rule about income, what percent of annual income do they like to lend. Just found your site, very helpful.
