No [N] Asbestos in your boiler according to hydro electric...

Anyone been told by hydro electric that their boiler contains asbestos? I have and they have removed me from the plan. I was with british gas for 13 years and as i have both gas and electric from the hydro they enticed me on to their plan over a year ago. They inspected my system, passed it and took monthly payments for over a year. However 2 weeks ago they came for my annual service and noted a number from my boiler, compared it to a booklet containing many, many models of boilers etc and decided it contained asbestos! The engineer left, did not do the service and now i have been left without cover! Shocking outcome is - MY BOILER DOES NOT CONTAIN ASBESTOS, i have contacted the gas safety register, my boiler manufacturer and the Heath & Safety Executive none of which know anything about a new list of asbestos boilers. If you have been told your boiler is on this list i would like to hear from you. I suspect this may be a method hydro are using to scaremonger people into buying a new boilerand to remove older boilers from their service plans. My advice is stay with british gas and do not take cover with hydro electric, their engineers are not as competent and as well trained as those from british gas.

Something like this was mentioned in a thread about 6 months ago. Read my post.

In particular a CORGI technical bulletin is mentioned. GasSafe should have something similar.

The small print of (any) service agreement has lots of escape clauses for the maintainer. You need to go through yours with a fine tooth comb to ensure you have been treated in accordance with the agreement.

As an aside, after 13 years plus, you're in a window where replacement with a new condensing boiler should be considered.
