Re: Are we heading for a house price crash?

All BBC media hype if you ask me. Just like bird flu. However, would it really be a bad thing if house prices were to drop substantially?..may mean I might be-able to buy one. I hope I have brought 'my point home'

    *yeah i went there....again :)

Are we heading for a house price crash? Vote now.

Latest figures from Nationwide building society revealed that house prices fell by an average of 2.5% - the biggest monthly fall since December 1992. Most housing analysts, including Nationwide’s chief economist, still claim that we are not heading for a property crash. Do you agree or are you worried that we could be heading for a full-blown property slump?

    • Yes – I’m really worried that prices are going to crash and am concerned that I will find myself in negative equity (20.6%)
    • Yes – But I think it’s a good thing. House prices have gone up so much in recent years that property in the UK looks really over-valued and we need a sharp correction in order to bring house prices back down to more realistic levels. Further falls will make it easier for me to get onto/move up the property ladder. (41.7%)
    • No – I can’t see how we can have a house price crash when there is such a shortage of property in the UK. Prices may continue falling slightly over the coming months but I’m sure the market will recover quickly. (37.7%)
