You can indeed travel separate on a family policy, although check the small print as the number of days you can travel separately may vary from the standard terms of the policy.
Also, you dont say if anyone under the age of 18 will be on the policy, but again if they are and will be travelling separately also check the conditions around this as if they have been included on it as a minor then they may have to travel with one of the insurerd adults.
