Re: Ant insurance hikes up the price-

If the regulatory body to which we are supposed to complain - does not have Alpha on their register, that means you would have to got to the foreign regulatory body to address your complaint. My premium was hiked up by 100% this month by a company which has taken over Ant and which does not exist in the telephone directory nor do they have a website. Has anyone taken this any further? Adminicle, the administrators for Alpha, say this company is FSA registered.

I have yet to be able to correspond with anyone who knows anything about what is happening.

Re: Ant insurance hikes up the price

Same here... been with them since summer 2007... good price to start with... but premium doubled last summer and now they want to almost double it again... the wording on the most recent letter is very convoluted and full of legal speak. I guess it has to be if they want to keep existing clients. I do not like the fact that they are "transferring the policy to Alpha Insurance" and in the same letter they claim to "join forces with a premium insurer". The only thing premium about Alpha is the extortionate monthly amount they want from me... a rise from approximately £78pm to £135pm... and there is another entity involved according to the letter... "Adminicle Limited", who are an "appointed agent of Alpha Insurance"...

I am looking around to change policies... will take note of previous post about British Insurance... and also if iprotect will take on without the 120day exclusion...

Re: Ant insurance hikes up the price

    i've applied to iprotect.it's £26 a month for £780 a month cover.Ant is £61 for £900 a month cover.

i've got to wait before i'm accepted and cause i have an existing policy the cover will just cross over to iprotect so i won't have to wait the 120 days to claim !!

Re: Ant insurance hikes up the price

Thanks for the tip. So I guess it's either Pay up, or cancel- there doesn't seem to be any feasible alternative. My job is reasonably secure, but no one can to see into the future, so it's having that peace of mind. At the same time £100 a month on insurance is too much.I am going to complain to the financial ombusman, but not sure how much impact that will have. Presumably they're allowed to charge what they want..

Re: Ant insurance hikes up the price

Avoid British Insurance at all costs. Over the past 12 months they raised my premium from £33 to £122! They hook you in on a low rate, and then hike it up.. They use the same firm of underwriters (Alpha A/S) as ANT.

    Don't touch British Insurance...

Re: Ant insurance hikes up the price

same here- i had a policy for 3 yrs intially at 28.50 for 1000 cover and this morning its being hiked up to 68 quid- so why do we get penalised for the fact other people are claiming

I think we need to take this further to the Ombudsman- start the petition -

Re: Ant insurance hikes up the price

yep me too! It started off at £27, then went to £60, now £109 per month. However, I have looked at some other polices online, and now they are only offering 50% of your income, whereas this policy is for 75%. I am going to get a quote from british Insurance

Re: Ant insurance hikes up the price

I bought mine in 2007 it was about £22 per month. It went up to about £26 which I didnt mind, then it went up to £36 which was a bit steep but hey. Then today I got a letter stating that its gone up to £66 per month for the cover of £1145 for 12 months ASU.

How can they put it up so much???? I just did a new quote for myself to see what the price is £45! so how can they charge £66!!!!

Guys, Check out my post on British Insurance - exactly the same - they've passed onto Alpha (a Danish group), and slammed up the rates. You should raise with the Ombudsman.

Re: Ant insurance hikes up the price

Yeah, about 2 years ago I took out an Income protection policy with Ant Insurance for £1500/month. Initially I was paying £30/month within a few months it was £60, now the price has gone up to £112.

This company should be reported to the FSA.

A mate of mine took took out £1100 of cover a few months before me with Hitachi capital - he is still paying £28.96 per month.

Try the usual suspects Moneysupermarket etc...
