You can use the price comparison tools to find typical usages. You are liable for the fuel that you use, subject to the 12 month backdating rules.

If you've not done so already, you should take meter readings now and when you move. You should also tell the suppliers when you moved. If you are fair to them in these respects, you should expect them to be fair to you.

    Another bill- less person!

Bought our flat from developer (who had let it out prior to purchase) in May 2007 and at the time called British Gas, Southern Elec etc to track down the gas supplier to no avail. Have never had a bill since (although certainly had gas!). We let it out for a year.

Anyway, am increasingly concerned about getting a huge bill. I understand they can't backdate you for more than a year now. I have just called the meter line on Transco and found out EDF supply the gas. So 2 questions: 1) What would you expect the average bill to be for 10 months (flat was empty for 2 months and gas not used at all) in a one bed with heating rarely used and a combi boiler.

    2) We are hoping to move shortly. If EDF have never sent a bill would we be liable after we're gone?

    Thank you!
