Re: Angry at moneysupermarket for breach of customer confidentiality!
As tempers are becoming frayed, and as it seems to me that all that can be said has been said, I am now locking this thread.
Those who have genuine issues that they wish to flag up are always welcome to contact Custome Services, or myself, and every effort will be made to resolve any problems that are being experienced.
As Richard Mason has already indicated, we are not in any way connected with Pure Insurance and have not passed on any customer details; moneysupermarket is dedicated to proper Data Protection and faultless customer service.
Kind Regards

angelhouse: but if they start abusing my details by cold calling me, I also will not be amused.
Oh, for goodness' sake. The only cold calling here is being done by Pure Insurance. This is getting unbelievably ridiculous.

Re: Angry at moneysupermarket for breach of customer confidentiality!
HI Phil,
Funny enough i had a phone call last night from Pure Insurance for my wife, i didnt let her finish the conversation, i just said no thanks and put the phone down. I did wonder where they got my details from. I have used Money market before, but if they start abusing my details by cold calling me, i also will not be amused.
I suppose i will have to wait and see what happens.

Hey, I don't know why you guys keep responding anyway. I came on this website to ask Richard Mason why, after using his company's website was I contacted by Pure Insurance. I know its raining outside but can't you guys go and put on an anorak and find some trains to spot instead?

Guys I don't think that 'angryphil' is ever going to become 'pacified phil.' Not sure what WILL make him happy!
This really is going round in circles, my suggestion is that you stop posting on this thread and then it won't be given it's time of day, (which is overdue already), in the Hot Topic section.
Phil you're venting your anger at the wrong person. Everyone has been trying here but you're just not listening.

As for Pure Insurance. Although I did think their approach was questionable, I am more interested in how they got my number. Which is why I came on here to ask an expert i.e. Richard Mason.

RGB: One telephone call and it's the end of the world.
SURELY there are more worthwhile things to moan about.
I don't think some people have a grip on reality/life. As I write this I have pages 4 and 5 open of the newspaper. Explains how bugs (salmonella, C.Diff, E.Coli, Cholera) are 9 times the limit in flood waters and how some insurers are failing to pay out claims. Kids aren't able to get to schools and the area is a complete waste.
...but somehow one bloody phone call is the end of the world to some <clip!> up <clip!> <clip!> who isn't listening to a <clipping!> word that's being said.
Sheesh.
Don't be a muppet RGB. Of course there are more important things going on in the world. And what we need is action to sort them out. If you think that the problem of the flood waters is an issue, stop chatting on an insurance website, get on your bike down to Oxford and give them a hand. I'm trying to deal with this problem. If we all took the attidude that there were more serious problems, we wouldn't deal with anything and we'd all be living in a worse society.

That's what I thought? In which case angryphil should be spending his time complaining to Pure Insurance directly if he has an axe to grind, as this is going round in circles.

angryphil: By what is going on here. Investigating what I've said and find out if a company on MS books is obtaining telephone numbers in an under-handed way and passing them on.I disagree that I'm expecting too much.
Did I miss something? I thought the problem was with Pure Insurance, which isnt one of companies on MS books?

Re: Angry at moneysupermarket for breach of customer confidentiality!
Certainly they can respond to the heads up, but that would not have prevented the call, now would it? And, with the best will in the world, what can they do to compel an honest repsonse to their queries? You really think the guilty party is going to admit to what amounts to a criminal offence? And what if you are wrong - it happens to us all -and it didn't happen through your contact with insurers after using MS? It is merely a question of timing, after all. You are holding the wrong people responsible for this, IMHO.
You seem determined to avoid any potential personal responsibility for this call - which, at the end of the day was one mere phone call, if irritating and annoying, but it does seem as if Pure may well be generating numbers and will therefor be able to call you unles syou register wuith TPS.
Two people on these forums have received calls. We have over 13,000 members. I reckon it is far more likely that Pure are using a number generator and just hazarding guesses at explaining how they got the numbers. I think they are likely to be lying. After all, everyone needs insurance, so the chances are that someone they call will have made insurance-related enquiries recently enough for that line to be plausible. Read Backfoot's Pure Insurance thread again - you will see what I mean.
Blame Pure for their behaviour, sure, and if an insurer passed on your details, get shirty wth them, too. But MS? They've been nothing but helpful to you.
