Am I entitled to help with learning?

    Hi everyone,

I would love to become a professional bookkeeper so that I can set up my own company from home.

I am a single mum, receiving income support and child tax credit. I am looking to study this course from home around my child.

Is there any funding for me because I am on these benefits, so that I can start learning as soon as possible?

Any help would be great, Ive tried looking for an answer for ages but am unable to get one.

     Thanks, sarahjessica xx

Hi there and welcome to the nut-house!

There's a lot around your income and status that will dictate whether or not you qualify, but on what you have given above, you should fit right in. If you have a word with your local JobCentre, they should be able to point you in the right direction, or alternatively, get in touch with the local Adult Education Centre (should be in the Thompson Local) and see what they can advise.

Come back to us if you still get no joy.

    SHARK!

There is the NDLP new deal for lone parents scheme run by your local jobcentre, I am not sure if it provides courses at home but they do pay for training, travel costs and childcare costs while you attend a local centre.
