Agreed, wish I'd got the address of her at the time but she kept been adamant with the phone thing and I was tired from a long day! :P Guess I'll have to phone up again, but I bet I'll spend 10 minutes debating the need to do phone and letter with the temp worker on the other side! :@ At least if that occurs I KNOW that something is wrong!

LHector - Don't let it rest at that.....also send your written cancellation by recorded to the address that you can find which closely resembles their main customer services at HQ.

Additionally also email their customer services and ask that they kindly acknowledge your email.

Hopefully you got the name of the operative on the phone and dated / timed the call....all these precautions will ensure you at least have one source of proof.

That way you have more than adequate proof that you have cancelled the service in line with their T&C's should a misunderstanding arise at a later date.

    Call it triple security.!

Fair enough, gave them a ring but I'm a little suspicious.

I asked for the address and they said it's better to do it over the phone because the written ones take between 3-6 weeks to sort out where as the phone is quicker. Now I've had bad experiences cancelling by phone so I'm dubious on this point.

Also because I'm intending to run it up to 7 Jan 2010 they advised calling back in the first week of December so that the 30 day notice period is covered and I don't suffer charges. That's all well and good but that doesn't leave a lot of room for error on their part does it, because if they don't confirm the cancellation, I'll end up having to cancel my direct debits and then mess around with them sorting out their admin error.

Yes, it could well be on the bill, but 0845 numbers are only charged at your local rates.!

Their phone service is a nightmare though not to mention it costs a bomb. I'd rather avoid phoning just to find an address that should be printed on their website in the first place. Wonder if it will be written on my bills anywhere?

Give their customer services a call first to clarify the postal address to send your recorded cancellation notice.

If you live in a cable area give us a call on 0845 454 1111.
If you live in a National area you can contact us on 0845 454 2222 (local rates).

Address to cancel a VM contract by post

    Hi

I'm moving flats soon but I will be taking out Sky in the new place (as it's a new build development already pre-wired with a communal dish) and so I need to cancel my VM contract in my rented property.

My contract was taken out on 7 January 2009 and I'm due to move in the late part of December 2009 so I'm willing to let the contract pan out till 7 January 2010 to meet the 12 month contract term and avoid early charges.

However when I look for a postal address I see variations and the posts are quite old and it's hard to locate any on the VM site.

Does anyone have the postal address to write my formal notice of cancellation to? I will include details about the 7 January 2010 issue as well. I don't want to email or phone as after my year-long battle with Orange to cancel my phone contract I am adamant that I'll conduct all contract cancellations by recorded delivery post from now on! Plus who has ever heard of a competent phone cancellation service?

For the record though I haven't had a problem with the cable internet/tv/phone for the entire year aside from getting random spam calls from a debt agency for someone who I'd never heard of before despite the number being new, but I put them in their place quickly. Internet worked fine although I wish 20MB actually meant 20MB download speed, not 1MB! ............ah well least my gaming pings were great!
