we have annual worldwide travel insurance, but it covers only 30 days.  we will be going on holiday for 5 months.  what do we have to do, get an additional after the 30 days period or what?  can anybody help me please??????????

 I won't say how jealous I am that you are going on holiday for 5 months :)

But in answer to your query, check with your current provider as they may be able to offer you an extended stay on your policy (this will probably be at an extra cost), failing that it would seem that you would need to take out another travel insurance policy for a long stay.

Unfortunately it is unlikely that you existing provider will extend the cover for the duration you need, in our experience it is unlikely that companies will go above a 120 day trip limit and most are around the 31, 45 or 60 day mark.

As Maxine mentioned a long stay policy seems the likely option, have a look here on MSM for quotes to give yourself an idea of how much you trip should/could cost to insure.

 Thanks for the information.  I've asked but they don't give upgrade.  Do I have to take another from the date of departure in the UK or just additional after the 30 days annual cover?  We booked  our flight and will leave on the 7th of December and will be back by May 16, 2008.

You should take the long stay insurance for the entire trip duration as the annual policy probably includes a clause stating that you have no cover for any part of the trip if it exceeds the 30 day limit.

Furthermore the long stay insurers would probably not agree to cover commencing from a time when you are away from the UK.
