Re: A year of low interest rates

If the pound keeps on declining and there are fears that inflation might increase, then the rate will increase.

My prediction is now that the rate will be 1 - 1.25% by the end of the year.

Well...no change there then... inflation must be on course... :-)

Read our editor Clare Francis's thoughts on the impact of the last year in her latest article 'What has a year of low interest rates done to your finances?'

A year of low interest rates

There's another Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee meeting tomorrow to decide what to do about interest rates. If they choose to keep them on hold, it will mean a full year of bank rate being held at 0.5%.

So, in preparation for interest rates being held again, we'd like you to tell us how have you managed during a year of historically low interest rates. Perhaps you've been on a tracker mortgage and it's been good news for you? Are you a saver who has been struggling to get the best return on your savings? Do you think the MPC will increase interest rates tomorrow to try to curb rising inflation? Has managing interest rates and quantitative easing been successful in keeping the economy on track for recovery?

Let us know what you think and how you've managed over the last 12 months...
