    Community:

Good news for bill payers this week as Scottish Power becomes the latest of the Big Six energy providers to cut its prices.

Price comparison websites indicate Scottish Power Online 7 to be up there with EDF V5 but only where NPower 16 has been for some time. However look at the offers. Both feature a "minimum" discount of (only) 2-3% on their standard tariffs. Currently a lot more than 2-3% which is why they are towards the top of the table.

Can somebody tell me what protection the customer has if the tariff discount reduces towards to the 2-3%. This does not seem to me a transparent offer which entirely merits "good news", not "fixed" but potentially linked to a variable tariff, in other words, not even capped.
