    Hello IVAW

Taking into account your comments on CCCS & the CAB I was wondering if you could elaborate a little further here, also could you give us a little more insight on why miss h should be a bit careful with regards to getting advice from these agencies?

    Hi miss_h

Be a bit careful where you get your advice.

Ask the CCCS who funds them (look on the front page of their web site), ask the CAB if any of the big banks ever fund them (search for their annual report and look in there). I think you might be a bit surprised!

Unfortunately you wont get an Insolvency Practitioner to nominate an IVA for you if you don't have a job, no money for your monthly contribution and therefore no money for their fees!

The answer really depends on how much your debt is, what your assets are etc etc

If you have no assets, no job and nothing to lose you might be able to write off your debts, you have nothing to lose but the debt have you?

hi miss- h. you need to go to cab , and to the question to get debt free and get a good credit rate score it will take time as most payplans, dmp, iva all can take from 2rys to five and longer, depending on total debt, i would seek a free DPM and not a payment one as they can end up paying out when you can do for free, tiller.

    Hi

What you need to do is get all your information together e.g. Debt amounts owed to which company and current position, your current financial position, savings/investments/ property owned and your current income/expenditure.

You then need to arrange an urgent appointment with Citizens Advice. http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/

What you may find with CA is that they are booked up for the next few weeks as there are a lot of people in this situation. If you cannot get an appointment in the next few days, the following may be able to help.

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/

    http://www.payplan.com/

    http://www.cccs.co.uk/

I think they will suggest writing to all these companies setting out the position and ask them to put matters on hold. Then once your financial position improves you will arrange a payment plan with these companies.

And obviously chase up your JSL claim. 3 weeks seems a bit out of order. Go to you local job centre plus office and see if they can help.

Re: A lot of Debt....And no Job...

I think you are in need of specific debt advice which you would be best seeking from:

The CAB (citizens advice bureau) www.citizensadvice.org.uk

CCCS Consumer Credit Counselling Service www.cccs.co.uk

    National debtline www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/

You may need to enter an IVA, a dept management plan or even (at worst) go bankrupt.

Make a list of all your debts, the interest rate, how long since you have paid these debts.

Some may be (not the CCJ one) too old (more than 6 years) and can no longer be chased.

You are doing the right thing to seek advice, don't stop, take action by contacting one of the above who all offer free advice.

    Good luck with it.

A lot of Debt....And no Job...

I have recently returned from working abroad to alot of debt...credit cards, overdraft, store cards etc. I have one CCJ and alot of different credit companies and debt agencies calling none stop demanding payments. I am searching for a job every single day (i didnt think the recession had such an effect) i also applied for jobseekers in the mean time and still have not heard anything back (3 weeks ago)

All i want is to start and clear this debt, but with no income i cant find anyone to help me...what can i do? Im also getting married soon and when my Husband moves to England i need a good credit rating or we will never live a normal life, we need to find somwhere to live! Is there anyway to clear the bad credit file?

Im very confused about all of this, i know its my own fault for going away for so long and ignoring everything...but now it seems out of my reach to fix it!
