Advice required.

I am due to complete on the sale of my house on December 10th.  I am not buying a new property until June next year and am looking to invest the equity and savings that I have so that I can increase the deposit I have for the new property in June.  I have looked at the different accounts available and would like some advice from anyone out there that has done the same or is experienced in these matters.  Amounts are as follows:-

£146k to invest for 6 months

£1,200 per month to save over the next 6 months.

Is it wise to split this into smaller sums to minimise the risk (Northen Rock £30k??) or is there a better way??

Sensible suggestions would be appriciated.
