    Re: 3 Car Motorway Accident

I have a sneaky suspicion that this will be settled at 50/50 with Car's 2 and 3. Car 1 will be deemed as not responsible. Car 2 was travelling too close to Car 1, and Car 3 was travelling too close to Car 2 that they were unable to react to Car 1 & Car 2's break lights.

That said, if Car 2 was removed from the equation, the accident may not have occurred but this is hard to prove as Car 3 may have still been too close to Car 1.

Were the police called to the scene? Has their been an accident report processed as yet?

Did car 2 hit car 1 and then reverse into car 3? Can't think of another scenario to blame car 2

Without knowing the cercumstances it could be proven. I work as an accident investigator and what I will say is do your homework now. Get things like pictures and draw a step by step plan of how it happened. The more you can give the insurance company the more likely they will appoint a claims handler to look into it. Without it, they will just settle as its far easier to do that than spend their money trying to fight a claim that is hard to prove.

Make sure your firm with your insurance company and advise them that you pay your insurance and expect them to be supportive in your claim.

Got to say that its going to be the car in rear that is at fault. Unless the rear car, no 3 can prove that car 1 braked hard or was driving with undue care and attention then it would normally be car 3 that takes the main hit for this. Car 2 will take some of the blame as the way the insurance will do it is that Car 1 claims from car 2, Car 2 insurance will claim for the cost of car 1 and car 2 from car 3. Bit of a donomo affect.

    Re: 3 Car Motorway Accident

Normally whoever is at the back gets most of the blame. Whatever the conditions, you need to be a safe stopping distance behind the car in front. If conditions are bad, you should leave a larger gap and slow down.

It's rare that the car in front gets blamed unless (s)he pulled out in front of another vehicle when there wasn't room to do so.

Whoever gets blamed, the insurance premium for all 3 drivers will go up when they renew. The amount of the increase will depend largely on how much each policy pays out after this accident.

Possibly car 3 pushed car 2 into car 1. This is often the excuse given by car 2.

    Re: 3 Car Motorway Accident

Hi --- Initially the middle car 2 for being too close to the car in front (number 1), then the rear car 3 for the same reasons, running into the middle car (number 2).

Car 1 at the front- could only be at fault if it's proven that he braked without reasonable cause.

It's usually the driver who runs into the rear of another, who is at fault.

PS -- I do hope you're okay, shaken but not hurt. !!!

Incidentally which car were you in . ???

    3 Car Motorway Accident

I have just returened from the scene of an accident i was involved in with 2 other cars and need some help.

Weather was really bad, one car has braked the car behind has braked sharply and then the card behind that has also braked sharply.

The front car has minor damage, the middle car is a write off and has front and back damage, the back car has front end damage and is also a write off.

IN THE EYES OF THE INSURANCE WHO IS AT FAULT CAR 1, CAR 2 OR CAR 3
