    17 Year Old son Insurance

My son has just passed his driving test and I am looking to insure him on my insurance.

I am separated from his wife and will see him maybe 2/3 weekends per month. Are there any policies or ways of insuring him without paying the £1200 pounds plus I have been quoted.

I have had a license for over twenty years, with no claims.

    Thanks

The premium is based on the driver with the highest risk. If you put him on your policy you are putting your no claims bonus at great risk. If you let him sort it out and pay for it himself he will drive more carefully and build up his own no claims bonus. Statistically, most accidents are caused by new drivers under 25 years. Let him stand on his own two feet and make his own mistakes is my strong advice to you. Ignore it and I guarantee it will all end in tears one way or the other.
