turan:i am a 17 year old male i passed my test in june 08 and am 18 in feb 09 at the time of this post i have had my license for 4 months. i am looking to buy a car but the chepest insurance quote ive got is £6,500 which is ridiculous as it was for a 1 litre corsa. no one else drives in my family so i have no adult with a no claims to go on. thw max i can afford for insurance is £1,500 and thats pushing it i live in the centre of london and im a student.

Mate. You have a list of eight things going against you there. The title of your post is a little absurd (17 Year Old Male Needs Cheap Insurance), but especially after reading the entire post.
You need to show the underwriter that you can minimise the risk of the loss. There's nothing you can do about being 17 or male, or any of the other things really but keeping the vehicle in a garage is almost a MUST for London, especially Central.
Just out of interest, are you living in halls away at University? To be honest, although not this may not be the answer you are looking for, I would try to avoid having a car unless absolutely necessary. London has one of the biggest accessible links to public transport. You can be anywhere and a tube station will be in visual distance. Unless you plan on going far, I would really reconsider purchasing a car.
