As much as they have a gangsterish style of dealing with customers, ( I was treated with contempt by them for a while ) but my experiences with B.T. still has me in fits of laughter, you couldn't make it up. Please read on just for a giggle! Last December they cut my 'phone. Countless calls asking why resulted in nobody knowing why, or when the line would be reinstated, it was, to a wrong number for 30 days! in addition, a person who was doing head of 'customer care' impersonations dispatched duplicate letters ( got at the cooking sherry destined for the xmas party? ) saying how delighted she was that the moving of my line had been completed. much as the chap from the chairmans office ( well thats what he claimed ) was very civil, and the chaps with the tools were polite and on time, the shower in the middle would disgrace a third world start up outfit.

Just moved house - want to make sure I don't get previous owners Talk Talk Bill

Hi, I have just moved into a new house on 16th Oct 09. Today I have finally had my phone line/Broadband switched from the previous owners Talk Talk line to the Orange line, by BT Openreach. However I have been informed by BT that the previous owner did not tell talk talk that they were moving and the line was still live. We haven't used the line at all since we moved in and we don't want to get the bill for the previous occupier. I have tried speaking to talk talk who basically weren't interested and said if the bill wasn't paid by the previous owner then our address would get black listed. Now the new owner may pay the bill but we have no way of knowing and as their post is being redirected (at last!) I will not know what bills/correspondance Talk Talk are sending to them and I have no forwarding address for them. So all I know is that the balliffs could turn up without warning at our house. So the question is as Talk Talk are not interested who can I talk to to make sure we don't end up with the bill after 16th October and no black listing?

Talk talk driven me to near suicide

It's been 6 months and 11 days since I first signed up to get a Talk Talk service, having moved house in September. I have spent over 50 hours on the phone to them, and a lot of my money has been spent on the customer services number and in my local internet cafe. I have written to their compaints dept, their Press Office, and now Charles Dunstone CEO, with no replies. I have had to start my application for a service all over again several times and have never received any explanation as to why the previous attempt failed. I must have spoken to every single employee of Talk Talk, every single one as incompetent as the other. I ask you, what should one do? How can they treat me like this? I'd had Talk Talk for 3 years prior to moving, and once up and running, it's fine, and is a good deal because you don't have to muck around with 3 other bills for line rental, calls etc. So that's why I've been persevering with trying to get this service. Should I give up? I can't find another company that does a similar deal! But then it feels like I've surrendered - and these corporations should not be allowed to get away with this sort of treatment of their customers. I am now invoicing them for my costs - something in the region of £2500 - and I am taking them to a small claims court if they do not pay up for wasting my time. I am stuck in their system so I cannot sign up to get broadband from another company yet. I am seriously livid with anger and frustration. If anyone can think of anyway I can get to them before I tackle the small claims court option, let me know. It's PAYBACK TIME! Their only response has been to inform me that they will send an engineer to check out my system (I have carried out all recommended diagnostics) only if I agree that if the fault is in my property AND in lines that are within the boundaries of my property!! and will pay the cost of £180:00. Now I have agreed, only, if I can be given absolute proof that the fault lies WITHIN my property. I have also asked for an explanation as to why I should be responsible for the overhead lines that leave the main socket in my house and that I have no control over. I have not yet recieved any response from TT other than regular emails informing me that they have tried telephoning me but not able to obtain ananswer, this is rubbish as I have caller ID on my phone and it logs all calls that are made to my premises. In addition when they say they called I was in allday. This seems to be a standard reply. I am now still no nearer to having the problem resolved. Does this lack of action on their part constitute a "breach of contract" as I now seriously am thinking of changing my ISP.

TalkTalk contract

Have been with talktalk through the 18 months contract and was expecting to be contract free but they have put me into another 18 month contract because i failed to state otherwise! is this legal i have not signed anything. I sell Talk Talk door to Door in the south-west an I encounter people who have problems with Talk Talk or people who want to stay with BT. Problems that you have with talk talk ranging from calling Indian call centres to connection problems often are due to an out of date package. Talk Talk no longer have overseas call centre's they're based in Manchester, now I know it's no easier to understand a Manc than it is to understand an Indian but the thought's there!! Now there's two schools of thought here. 1) You hate the customer service - Fair doo's at the end of the day we all interact with people differently, I personally hate sorting things out over the phone at least with Talk Talk you can go to Carphone Warehouse and sort it all face to face try doing that with BT or ANYONE else for that matter. Or you could look at it and say, well they're all as bad as each other really so you may aswell go with the cheapest! And if you use this site frequently enough you'll know it's talk talk. 2) You LOVE BT. Why? They charge insane amounts of money, whenever you call them you call india. The only reason that there are now other landline companies is because the government saw that because BT had a monopoly on the phonelines they were charging excessively. So they privatised the market and Ofcom have frozn BT's prices until 2010 so that new companies can enter the market and evreyone's cheaper than BT they just are and Talk Talk's cheaper than everyone else. Look at the end of the day it doesn't require a massive amount of brain capacity, just a little common sense and you'll see why my job is so easy. Please leave any queries below I'm actually quite happy to answer them. Anyone that would like to make a more urgent point of contact should use my personal e-mail address, t.p.andrews AT hotmail.co.uk and use the Subject Talk Talk. After a terrible experience with Talk Talk that lasted 4 months they are now being a pain again. What happened is this: I had Talk Talk broadband and a call package, i forget the name but it gave free international calls. Well the brodband was terrible, had to ring up every other week on average for help as it kept disonnecting, or days on end it wouldnt even work. By November I had had enough of this and rang them up and said a they wernt providing there end of the bargain and not providing a consinstand service, and not being very helpful I wanted out of the contract. I said that I wanted to talk to the complaints department, which I promptly got put through too.The complants chap was English, I explained what had been going on, he was very understanding and said that the contract would be terminated, he said the call was recorded, he gave me his details at the time too. I thought this would be the end of this..... In January this year, I got a phone call again from Talk Talk saying that we owed them for ending the contract early, I then politlely explained to the person that we ad already had this confirmed that we wouldnt owe any money by the English chap, and the call was recorded,I gave him the time and date of the call, he said thanks and i thought that was the end of it...... Now today I have just had a phone call from a debt agency saying Talk Talk have instructed them that we owe them money. Any advice please before I cll Talk Talk next please.

Can I re-activate talk talk account of previous owner?

I have moved into a house that until 2 days ago, the previous owner had a talk talk account for broadband and telephone. I understand this means I will have to go back to BT, then find another supplier and pay BT £125 cancellation charge. The issue is, I don't want to go through all that hassle if a new supplier is just as bad, or worse than, TT. So I would like some advice as to my options. Here are the issues I've been having with TT which make me want to leave: Speed of connection: I pay for up to 8mb, I rarely get more than 2mb, and I'm about half a mile from the exchange. They said it wuld get faster on LLU - it hasn't. Bad customer service: If there's a problem, and I call them, I'm on hold for hours and then get cut off when I do finally speak to someone. The main issue, payment dates: Because TT won't accept any direct debit payment dates other than the 26th (ish), I constantly find my service cut off because I don't get paid until the last working day of the month. This wasn't a problem in my old job but now it means I have to go a week without service, and get charged £3.50, to pay with my credit card each month. So. I'm looking for a provider which will provide: A choice of payment dates A reasonable estimate of speed Technicians who know how to answer a phone A download limit of 40GB per month (we're online gamers!) I would like to move both phone and broadband over. I'm currently paying around £28-£35 per month for both phone and BB, which I admit is a good deal, but if there's a better company out there I'd love to hear about them!

Some Clarity and Advice Needed

Hi All, What is the deal with moving my landline from talktalk to another provider, did notice sky couldn't take it up but why is this? I will not bore you with all the details, but by far the worst example is that Talk Talk use the name of your bank (where you have your Talk Talk direct debit) as a security question! This is mad!!!!!! I have tried to tell them about this, but their "fraud manager" appears to be a twelve year old in an Indian call centre. Beware using bank details for non-bank security details will leave you open to a scam. If it was me, here is how I would do it. 1) I swould send out a thousand letters to random people on Talk Talk letterhead, confirming you recent order for an upgrade to the £75 a month Gold Product. 900 of them would not be Talk Talk customers, but a few would be and would read the letter. 2) Appalled at the idea that you have accidentally been put on an super-expensive tarif, I'd expect you to call Talk Talk to complain. There is a 90% chance that you will simply phone the number on the letter I sent you. Only 10% of people will search for an old bill for the correct number. In effect you have just phoned a fraudster. 3) "I'm really sorry", I say - "we'll sort this out immediatley. For security can you just confirm where you bank". As Talk Talk always ask yu this anyway, you'd have to reply, or not be able to proceed with de-registering from the super-expensive tarif. If you respond quickly, I'd chance my arm and ask for the Sort Code. Now I know your bank and your physical branch. I tell you we've sorted out the problem and you won't be on on the Gold tariff. I won't tell you what I'd do next (last thing I need is more fraud), but with you bank name and sort code, I have ways of getting the account number. A little bit of low effort forgery, (no chance of getting caught) and I'd soon have a bank reference, then a pay-as-you-go mobile in your name, then a credit card delivered to a safe address, then a few other bits and pieces such as a driving license in your name and address but with my photo. Only once I'd assembled all my free bits and pieces would I then try and take over your account and spend you money. And all because Talk Talk have a fraud manager that doesn't know how fraud works in the UK. You have been warned.

My Talk Talk Story

I thought I may share this with you, then ask a question for my efforts. I have been with talk talk for nearly 2 years now, and despite a shock horror few months of pain and torture, I did bear with them and fortunately it has paid off. I had a big issue with transfering my old account onto free broadband, made several calls to sort, nothing happened and this went on for weeks. I then thought what the hell I would write to Charles Dunstone. Below, and if you read on you will find out I actually got a reply Charles Firstly I would like to start my expressing my most utter disapointment with the way your company have dealt with me over the last 6 months. I will briefly run you through the facts, however I would like someone to contact me asap to discuss this in greater detail. I have been a customer with you for almost 2 years, and back in November 06 I spoke with your sales team who advised me of your new product Talk 3 with free broadband. The salesman persuaded me to move to this deal and as this was a tempting deal I obliged. After 1 month I had not heard anything, nor had I received a welcome pack or letter. I contacted customer services, who advised me I was set up okay and all will be fine. Three weeks later you took £14.99 from my bank account(which was the broadband price you were charging me before offering this new deal). I spoke with customer services about this and advised them I was on the free broadband deal, to which they disagreed, however they did refund my £14.99. I received an email from a supervisor in January saying all was set up fine and the talk 3 plan with free broadband was now active. (I still have this email). Again no letter or welcome pack.... At the end of January another £14.99 was taken from my account and again this was kindly credited, insisting I still was not set up on the right plan. After a frustrating phone call, I was transferred to sales and an australian guy proceeded to take 20 mins registering me for the product I should have been set up on 3 months ago. I was assured there would be no more mistakes and my old broadband account would be closed, making way for the new talk 3 plan with free broadband. Another month went by and still no welcome pack, another £14.99 charge was taken and again following another phone call it was credited and yet again I was advised the reason for this was because I was not set up on the Talk 3 plan. By now I am getting very angry as you can imagine. I was transferred to sales again and another 20 min registration phone call took place. This time I was given a reference number, and sure enough I can now see this order going through on the my talk talk page. I cancelled my DD for the £14.99 broadband account as I had had enough of you continually taking my money. Monday of this week I was cut off from the service as my £14.99 had totalled up to three months owing. I spoke with customer services and they assured me the credit was going through and my broadband restriction would be lifted, together with utter apologies. It is now Friday and broadband is still not working.!!!!! I have previously recommended three people to your company and all have had issues, the latest complaint came from my mate Mr Brian Carter, You put a guy called Arnie on the case and he has since solved his problem. I attempted to contact Arnie yesterday and left messages, but he has not come back to me. Charles, I am trying to keep calm over the entire situation, however I am totally dissatisfied with your service. How can you possibly continue to get things wrong time and time again. 3 times I tried to sign up with you and 3 times it did not happen, I must know every person in your service team by now and cant begin to count up the number of calls I have made. I am begging you, please help me, my online business has suffered because of this and there is only so far a customer can be pushed. I look forward to your reply Regards Simon Norris I then got this reply Dear Norris, Many thanks for your email, I have attempted to contact you on 2 occasions via telephone, without success, I am extremely sorry you have felt it necessary and resort to contacting Charles directly in search of a resolution. My name is Andrew, and my role is to resolve any customer issues on behalf of Charles. I will initiate an immediate investigation into the background of your issue, and I will be contacting you soon in order to discuss the matter in more detail. In the interim, I am available via email or telephone, my direct number is xxxx xxx xxx Please accept my sincere apologies for having to take time to contact TalkTalk, please be assured I will do everything possible to help bring a satisfactory resolution to your issue. Regards Andrew Since sorting this with Andrew. I now have a direct number to call, plus a direct line into there network department as I had an issue with braodband being slow. I made one call to a guy called John.(not going to give his number out) and now I am receiving almost 7034kb/sec, which is blinding speed. so all in all I am not extremely happy with them. But....... the question I have is, I am moving to a brand new house in three weeks. I have speken to there home moving team who say I can pay them £129 to come and completely install a line for me ready to transfer the service. Is this correct???? I thought I may had to get BT to hook it up and then argue 12 months subscription from them I would be gratefull if someone can confirm this. Sorry for the long reply. Hope you enjoy the reading. TalkTalk still owe me the money I paid for renting a line which wasn't working, and for all the mobile calls I had to make to their customer services. Instead of suggesting when they might be paying this money, they've sent me two bills - for connection & disconnection! Obviously I'd already cancelled the direct debit, but I've just read some of the reviews, and see some people in my situation are threatened with court cases. I'm going to contact consumer programmes like Watchdog and You & Yours this weekend, as I'm obviously dealing with a completely unscrupulous company. Maybe if others in the same situation do the same, we might get something done. The only thing TalkTalk seems to react to is negative publicity; when I posted a negative review on this site, I had an email inviting me to give details of the problems I'd encountered. That, however, is as far as it goes!

TalkTalk broadband packages

My broadband contract is up soon and I am looking to leave my current provider for many reasons which I will not bore you all with. Talk Talk are one of three providers who have contacted and offered me the option to switch to their services, both broadband and telephone. I am trying to gage some opinion on the broadband packages they offer as well as overall customer service. I have learnt in the past a little research can save a lot of hassle.

Why is my connection slow :[?

Hi everyone im making a post that im having troubled with ,it started last week, The problems are that im having trouble that my talktalk connection speed has gone down by 11-30kbs,it used to be about 400kb above but i cannot figure out why my speed has gone down and why is it like this, read this post please i need help :[

What is this CCA thing people are talking about on here?

From what I have been reading, it sounds like if there is no signed original consumer credit agreement, then I don't have to pay them. Have removed my personnel information - still awaiting a reply. Vicky I am using my work account as I have no internet or phone service at my new house We spoke in June about cancelling my Talk Talk account. I then spoke to customer services on 11 June and they agreed to cancel my account without charge if the service was transferred to the new owners of my house if I completed some forms which were to be mailed to me. On 17 June we spoke again and you emailed the transfer of service forms for completion as none had arrived in the mail. On 18 June I completed the forms and got the new owners of my house to complete their portion and I mailed the completed documents back to the home mover’s team that night 1st class post. On 25 June we moved house and although the phone line was working we presumed the service had transferred to the new owners. On 27 June the line was disconnected and when the new house owners enquired with Talk Talk they were told that we had taken our services to our new property and they would have to pay £100 - £150 to be reconnected. On 30 June I went into the Car Phone Warehouse office in Harrogate and talked to customer services and informed them that we DID NOT WANT TALK TALK ANYMORE – they agreed to note the file again to this effect and would call me back on my mobile. NO CALL BACK RECEIVED. On 1 July the new owners again called me and asked me to talk to customer services again – this I did and the helpful lady said yes they understood that I was not continuing service and that wrong information was given on 11 June as the service could not just be transferred. The lady agreed to speak to her supervisor as wrong information had been given they would look into reinstating the line at no cost to the new owners of the house. Again she said they would call my mobile back with more information – NO CALL BACK RECEIVED. On 3 July I arrived at my new house to find a message card through the door from Openreach saying they want to access the property on behalf of Car Phone Warehouse. I tried to contact Openreach but could not find a number so called the Talk Talk customer services – after 20 minutes the lady said she was trying to sort this out with the “back room” and would again call me back on my Mobile. NO CALL RECEIVED AGAIN. WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP HARRASSING ME AND WILL SOMEONE CALL ME BACK ON (work no) TO CONFIRM THAT TALK TALK HAS CEASED MY SERVICE AND WILL STOP TRYING TO CONNECT AN UNWANTED SERVICE TO MY NEW HOUSE. CAN I ALSO HAVE TO CONTACT DETAILS FOR CHARLES DUNSTONE AS HE MAY BE ABLE TO STOP MY ACCOUNT AS NO ONE ELSE SEEMS TO CARE – I HAVE CANCELLED MY DIRECT DEBIT WITH YOURSELVES AND UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED WILL CONTINUE TO PESTER YOU AND ALL TALK TALK MESSAGE BOARDS. The broadband connection is VERY unreliable, and the telephone line quality variable. Sometimes overseas calls are unintelligible. I have spent hours on the phone trying to get some improvement from talktalk but there is nobody willing to do anything helpful. I now have the problem and cost of trying to move to another supplier. Don't do it. Avoid talktalk. I was interested but, as the lady could only sign you up on the spot, she advised me to check it out on the website. This I did and asked for a callback. Today, after speaking to a rep on the 'phone for nearly 30 mins I ageed to accept their paperwork with the proviso that I had 21 days to cancel. I rang my son to say what he had done and he advised me to check out this forum. Having read the comments I decided I just didn't want to get involved. I then spent a long time trying to speak to someone in order to cancel. All I got were disembodied voices. Eventually I got through to a sales person who was the most rude/aggressive person I have ever encountered. He told me I was through to the wrong dept., he couldn't put me through to the right one, there was no manager or anyone else I could speak to and why did I want to cancel when I'd only just ordered. He was badgering and most unhelpful. After telling him I found his manner unacceptable I hung up. I do hope that this call was recorded. After several more attempts I finally spoke to a very pleasant lady who took details of the order number etc and said I would receive a call back confirming the cancellation. I propose to write letters as appropriate and will let people know the outcome. However, on the basis of 'Bob's' telephone skills I wouldn't advise anyone to get involved with this company. A question that I am beginning to ask myself is if one of the main differences between the two groups of posters is that posters who advise that they are pleased with their TalkTalk service are [in the main] connected to exchanges where TalkTalk have installed LLU? I was seriously considering moving to TalkTalk, until I read some of the other posts, most of which are rather scary! I don't want to move my account [for 18 months!] and go through what some of the other posters have encountered, but I have noticed on the samknows.co.uk website advises that TalkTalk has already installed LLU at my local exchange! So, my question to other posters is "Does installation of TalkTalk LLU at your local exchange make the difference to the TalkTalk internet service provided and problems encountered, or does this play no part at all? For readers who do not have much time to post a full reply, a short answers just saying "LLU at local exchange - Yes/No" and "TalkTalk INTERNET Sevice - Good/Bad" would be sufficent from current TalkTalk users [although if your ISP is someone else, I would be interested to hear your situation] to give some indication of the part it plays! Thanks for reading this post, and posting your findings.

TalkTalk broadband

I read the article about the cheapest broadband and almost got excited until I remembered KC have a stranglehold on broadband in Hull, although OFTEL think it's entirely fair and competitive, just as OPEC is fair and competitive in the oil market I presume.
