My daughter-in -law has just had a really good look at her Finance agreement and was horrified to learn that at 26 months into her 36 months agreement she has done 27,000 miles and is only allowed 6,000 miles per year on the contract !! She is adamant the salesman told her the mileage allowance was the same as her previous contract (peugeot passport),she is not a dumb blonde ! But she feels she has let herself down badly by not having checked the small print before signing and by accepting the salesman's word. What happened to "Plain English" agreements Re: small print ? Any help, advice would be appreciated, she has already contacted Peugeot who were NO help at all. I was thinking wether if I can do all that need sorting before it. I am sure that I can get the car insured maybe first or second week of december. But how can I have the car MOT so I can then apply for the Road Tax. Do I need to insure one of my mates as other driver in my insurance so he can drive the car for MOT? Or would it be alright for him to drive it to a garage for just one day even if he's not included in my car's insurance? What is best to do? I am a disbaled badge holder and need my car for mobility. I am moving within the same borough where I have had a parking permit. My new flat is on a car free development but I was wondering whether due to me being disabled I am exempt at all? I am living in tower hamlets, I have had a permit in this borough but we have mini zones so mine doesnt cover that area. Even tho I have a blue badge there is still 3 hour time limits in any one day on all the bays. I work as well so moving every 3 hours will not be an option. Plese do give me any help you can or point me to who I can contact. I have researched renting a private bay but due to the area being near canary wharf they are in excess of 150 per month which I simply cant afford. Thanks, Josh

Tom Tom one v3 - traffic receivers - £4.95

Surely a boo boo - I have put my order in... Found out today and they basically will do a 15 minute inspection on your car for free. Don't need to book, just drive in and they will look at your tyres, battery, exhaust, brakes etc....takes about 15 minutes At the end you get a written report. I guess they are hoping to find something wrong but all the same it's free and prevention is better than cure!

Peugeot 206 Clarion CD/Radio Player in 57 Look Model

I am looking to install a Nokia CK-7W Bluetooth Handsfree car kit into this car, but would like the sound to come out of the car speakers, instead of a little box speaker, that would normally mount in a footwell. This one is a 2.2 diesel, it's just over a year old and is without doubt the best car I've ever owned. OK so my first one, a 2.1 petrol, had been abused by it's first owner and wasn't brilliant, but I believed in the product and the dealership and sure enough my current car is everything I ever hoped for. OK, so it's the sport model, in black, but to me and most other people who care to mention, it really is a stunning looking car. It's not the 'flame surface' 'beardy mouthed' European average, what's the title... premium saloon, I think. What it is, is a superb small(ish) saloon with all the best traits of a Jaguar, quiet, comfortable, quick with the benefits of returning up to 48 mpg on a long run. OK so I don't drive economically, with a less leaden right foot it would achieve over 50 mpg, but you have to have some fun. In Germany earlier this year it was hilarious to sit on the autobahn at an indicated 160 kmh and put the hammer down and watch most things get smaller in the mirror. Ha! Hence only 45 mpg! C'mon guys in the press, this is a UK built car that competes very well in every area that the so called 'big boys' do and can hold it's head up as being the best looking car in the class. Would I change to a 3 series - pah, no chance! The girls just hate those!!!

part exchange rip off

i contacted motorpoint to arrange a part exchange deal for my car a 2008 58 plate citroen c4 2300 miles against a £8999 car i was informed part ex was only just over 5700 every one else offered between 7000-7500 has anyone else been offered a fantastic deal like this or iwas it just my imagination or it may be just the recetion

More Expensive Car Repairs?

Apologies if this subject appears in another post and I’ve missed it. At the moment the car industry has to comply with Block Exemption Regulations which place a lot of controls on the way it operates. Most of the clauses don’t have much effect on the ordinary car owner, but one part definitely does. Under these Regulations, car manufacturers and importers are obliged to provide repair information to independent garages and repairers. They are allowed to charge for this, but have to supply just the information the repairer needs, not an entire workshop manual. Next year the Block Exemption Regulations are up for renewal and there is talk in Europe that the car industry is working very nicely in terms of complying with the Regulations so there isn’t any need to renew them. The AA is supporting the Right To Repair Campaign as we are concerned that if the Regulations are not renewed car manufacturers will no longer supply repair data. This could mean your local independent garage won’t be able to work on your car and you’ll have to take it to a main dealer where you’ll pay a much higher labour rate. This certainly isn’t a campaign against franchised dealers, but without independents, repairs on many older cars may become too expensive to justify. The lack of repair data will also affect publishers of data manuals and motoring organisations. If the Regulations are not renewed then we need a guarantee that technical information for all cars will be available. Full details of the Campaign can be found at www.r2rc.co.uk Please sign the online petition so we can help protect the independent garage trade.

The Great UK Diesel Rip Off!!!!

A quick look on petrolprices.co.uk tells me that in my area the cheapest price for unleaded is 87.9p/litre and for diesel it is 96.9p/litre. I have to ask why diesel is 9p a litre more expensive in the UK than unleaded, when the opposite is true in most (if not all) other EU countries! I have recently been travelling from the UK to Luxembourg on business. The prices on the other side of the channel are the opposite way around, with diesel cheaper than unleaded and it is the same whether I fill up in France, Belgium or Luxembourg. Luxembourg is the cheapest with me paying 86.9 euro cents for a litre of Shell V-power. Standard diesel being around 79.9 euro cents per litre. So why the great diesel rip off in the UK? Is it the fuel companies. or the government or the retailers ripping us off? And more importantly, why are we letting them get away with it? Fact: Diesel is cheaper to produce than petrol as it is far lower down the refining process, so it should be cheaper to buy!

LDV Van

I purchased a new LDV Pilot van in 2004 as i was going to work for myself, then i broke my ankle which let to lots of complications etc so that put paid to that. During its 1st service they did a rust check and found it badly rusty underneath plus lots on the bodywork. They did all the work under warranty. Now its very rusty indeed and although it has a 6 year anti-corrosion warranty, they say this is rust NOT corrosion. There are NO dents in it because we use it as our car and look after it. Can anybody help us please?

1998 fiat marea gear problem help please

i have a 1998 2.4 TD fiat marea and the gear change is getting stiff i am finding it difficult to change from 2 to 3 and also coming down the gears it is like the stick dose not want to go into the gears but when i get them in it runs like a treat dose anyone know what it could be any help would be great

wrong tyres on same axle yet passed mot

Can anyone give me some advice; bought a mercedes second hand from our local vauxhall network q dealership january last year. car looked fine under my inspection. although after first wash noticed heavy front bonnet chipping which wasn't eveident at the time but thats another story. on completion of purchase full MOT and a minor service was undertaken by them and passed... 12 months later lo and behold failed MOT reason wrong tyres on same rear axle wrong width and height and speed so went back to vauxhall and explained.. after some deliberation they came back to me and said they would replace the offending tyre..great but really need to replace both now as the one correct tyre is in need of replacing. Dilema: should I push the envelope and insist they replace both tyres. on the basis that i have effectively been driving an illegal car for the past 12 months unbeknown to me, and as their MOT passing station effectively passed a car that is uninsureable in the event of a crash. Now I am knowingly driving this car in this position... should I push the envelope???? not much good at this kind of thing ...but sick and tired of coming off second best..cheers
