Two days ago I noticed a fine crack in the glass which runs from of headphone socket to the volume control. I did not put the phone in my back pocket or sit down with the phone in my pocket and when I do put it in my pocket I make sure I put nothing in there with it. I have not dropped the phone or done anything I can think of to cause this crack. There is no damage to the case or the bezel, there is no damage to the glass such as an impact point and in fact the crack is so fine you can barely feel it with your finger nail. T-Mobile refuse to exchange the phone saying it must go away for "upto 8 weeks" so someone can asess if it's been broken by me or if it is a defect in the phone. Personally I feel that if this phone is so fragile that it can apparently break for no obvious reason then it's not fit for purpose.. it is a mobile phone afterall and not a china ornament.. Do I have any options open to me apart from accepting T-Mobile's offer ?.

Orange Increasing Monthly Line Rental Free!

We signed up for two contracts at £30 each, since then we have received a number of letters from Orange letting us know that its going up, now we're paying almost £40 each for our contract, and the cover has gone up £5 too! Does anyone know how much credit I will use by connecting to the internet? I have done so by mistake a couple of times already. Perhaps I could connect via my computer's wi-fi for free? 2. Will I use my credit to send photos via bluetooth? 3. When using my phone abroad how will I know that I have picked up the Vodafone network. My previous phone always showed the country on the front screen but this one does not. Many thanks to anyone who can help.

T Mobile advice on incorrect amount being taken monthly on a full monty deal

I signed up with T mobile in December for a deal ehich was the i phone 4s 2000 mins unlimited data and text, upfront fee of £69.99 for the phone. I signed up on a 2 year deal. My contract does not state a discount. My first dd was £36.00 so I called the shop and customer service both advising me that I would get the £10.00 discount the following month and that there was a glitch with regards to the 1st month discount being set up. To qualify for an "upgrade" you need a sim card and phone number from one of the major networks that is more than 6 months old, that is still active and that has had money paid on to it. You just take the sim card and your money into a store and you walk out with a brand new, unlocked phone. Well apparently there contract is watertight so I'm stuck with a service which is unusable for two years. After being misled into the contract I asked to listen to the conversation with their sales person but they only keep the call recordings for 30 days. I bet if roles where reversed they'd find it. Basically on the 15th September 2012 I preordered 2 iPhone 5's with a promised delivery on the launch date of 21st. I got confirmation emails for deliveries in the following days and even got given the serial numbers for the phones. I then went onto envirofone and sold my existing iPhone 4. This has to be sent off within 30 days to get the quoted price. They screwed up the order initially as I only got the confirmation email for 1 of the phones. Phoned them up the next day and they ordered the other one correctly. Fast forward to the day of delivery. I tracked both the phones to the local DPD depot, but only one of them showed 'out for delivery', I did think this was odd, but they were both under the same consignment number so thought nothing of it (they did have separate parcel numbers). When the DPD driver arrived only one phone was delivered. I thought this was very peculiar. It turns out that the phone was stolen at the depot. I phoned Vodafone, who frankly were useless, and said a parcel search needed to be conducted and this would take 72 hours. 72 hours came and went and no call back. I phoned them and they had no record of a search being done. I was told that this time I would be contacted by a senior manager the next day. Again, no call. I called a few more times and alas more and more excuses as to why they can't just send me out another phone. It was coming up to 2 weeks after I was supposed to get the phone. Out of frustration I resorted to sending off a huge compliant email to their complaint department, and for the hell of the CEO (I knew this would be ignored). Anyway we're now pushing 4 weeks after I should've had the phone. I get a call from an Indian call centre offering me a 32GB phone instead of a 16GB for no charge. I said that isn't acceptable. I don't need a 32GB phone, and for such a screw up and lack of contact I demand more in compensation as well as some contribution to the money lost from not sending my iPhone 4 to envirofone. He then said that a more senior manager would call me back to discuss this. 2 more weeks without phone calls and promises of calls back. I then resorted to Twitter to ask for help. They made me fill up a form and promised a call back. Around 3 days later they call me, at the time I couldn't take the call. They leave a message saying that I didn't answer so I need to call the main customer care line. Not even a we'll try you later!!! Once again I tried calling the customer care line and they just don't want to help. All I want is my phone and some compensation. It's been 3 months now!! Please can someone advise me the best way to deal with this. Thank you so much, and if you've read the entire post my apologies that it's so long!

Affordable Mobile Mis-selling BEWARE Galaxy S3 deal

Being a current 3 mobile customer, I was surprised to see a Galaxy S3 deal at £26 pm [excluding cash back claim] so signed up for it over 24 months When I called 3 to cancel my existing contract, they warned me that the the tariff would raise to over £30 after 6 months Called Affordable Mobile to ask them for a contract stating that I would pay the advertised £26 per month for the duration of the contract because 3 had warned me the tariff price would increase after 6 months and they said that it 'probably' would increase after 6 months Surely this is mis-selling? However I noticed a while back that I get faster internet via Three at home (14mbps) compared to my wired connection (1.5mbps) so when I saw that Three were now offering unlimted all you can eat data that had no fair usage policy I thought, this was a no brainer. So I rang Three and spoke to Gary who was very, very helpful indeed. Unlimited was only available with handsets not dongles and was totally unlimited with no catches whatsoever and would perform much the same as my Ipad when tethered, so I ordered one. Phone arrived Thursday and in went the SIM. 6mbps which was in its self a dissappointment, but I thought maybe the network needs to catch up to get the good speeds. Indeed it did need to catch up, but not in a good way. By Friday morning I was recieving data at a whopping 1mbps - slower than my cable connection - the sole reason I bought it in the first place!- and more importantly 14 times slower than my Ipad. I can run speedtest.net on both devices with line of sight to the mast with one running 14mbps and one running 1mbps. Tech support very helpfully informed me it was probably "network congestion" and I'd have to live with it. At this point panic set it. I've bought a dud, it clearly is throttled, capped fair usage limited, call it what you will - It won't work for what I need it to and certainly won't work as promised by the salesman. So I called Three yet again to cancel and get it all taken away. Turns out because I have "used" the phone I can't return it. So here I am in Catch 22. The only way to find out the thing they sold me didn't work was to use it, but having used it I can't return it. It's impossible to speak to actual cancellations at Three cause the frontline cancellations won't put you through, though they have pinky promised they will fo sho call me back within a week. What am I missing here? They seem to have miss-sold me a phone package and in the process lied about it's unlimitedness, ignored regular sale of good fit for purposeness and the distance selling regs 7 day cooling off period. - surely none of these can be overridden cause I stuck a sim in a phone? Anyone experienced the same or have any ideas what to do next? I'm worried I've signed up for two years and £900 for a phone for which I have no use. (As Three, also known as Three.co.uk doesn't search very well cause their name is a number I should also mention they are Hutchison 3G UK Limited and their registered office is Star House, 20 Grenfell Road, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 1EH. )

Is it possible to get out of a contract with o2 due to no signal if you are outside the 28 days?

I moved into a new house in October and due to lack of signal (its quite a rural area) I shopped around and using network coverage checkers decided o2 was the best option. I ordered a new phone/contract online and it arrived 1st December. Immediately it was obvious that the signal wasn't any better than T-mobile had been however because we knew the area was bad I wasn't sure what to do so I kept hold of it and thought I'd just have to get on with it. I've sinced decided I'm ridiculous for thinking I could have 2 years with a phone I cannot make/receive a call from my house and contacted them today. (yes I know outside my return period, I'm stupid!) They did a couple of test calls to my handset (after asking me to remove voicemail) to verify that I was not able to receive calls however then came back to me and said they could not log it as it had been like that when i took the contract and was not a new issue. So why test my line? Again, I know I should have contacted them sooner however I feel its unreasonable that they expect me to pay £30 a month for 2 years with no service. They advised I switch my phone settings from 3g to analogue but didn't know how I did that and were going to call me back. I'm still waiting several hours later and they are now closed. A few points, I'm aware I'm outside their return policy period. When I called they said the coverage data on the internet (which is how i decided who to go with) hadn't been updated since 2009. Surely that is extra ground for them to allow me to return it regardless of timescales? I also searched on Ofcom and there are only 2 local masts both of which belong to Orange. As far as I can find through research online they offer no kind of booster for signal like some of the other networks? Has anybody got any advice on how I can either get out of my contract or even reduce my monthly rental if they won't do that or boost my signal so I can actually use the free texts/minutes I'm paying for? I have a toddler and it makes me nervous that I have no phone upstairs. If somebody broke in during the night etc I wouldn't be able to call anybody or get help. Any help much appreciated Schelly

Orange's lack of customer service

I was miss-sold a contract renewal by orange over the phone in November 2011. Unbeknown to me I lost a loyalty bonus of 400 additional minutes at this point. I therefore then proceeded to go over my allowance for the next few months until I discovered in August I had been being majorly overcharged. Between 15th September 2010 and November 2011 my monthly bill averaged £27.67. Since my plan was changed in November it has totaled £652.72 in 8 months (an average of £81.59 per month!) This means since my contract was renewed (which i had been led to believe would leave me better off) I have spent £431.36 more than i would have been had i stayed on my old contract. I accept that I maybe should have checked my statement sooner however I felt confident having been reassured by the sales person I spoke to that nothing would be changing, and I therefore did not have any reason to expect this to increase. Since making this discovery I have made approximately 10 separate calls the orange customer services line trying to get the problem resolved. Having initially been told there was no way to complain over the phone I sent an email to the address they provided me with only for that to come back as unable to deliver since Orange email was down at that time. Through persisting on the phone and speaking to various managers I was finally told in September that my bills would be recalculated based on what I had been verbally sold and that my £430 would be refunded to my account in one months time. When I rang back in a months time I was told the person had not left any notes on my account and nothing had been done since I last called so I was no closer to getting my money back. I then complained via the orange helpers account on Facebook which only frustrated me further. A further call to 150 got me through to a different manager who apologised and after having put me on hold while he spoke to accounts then confirmed my £430 would be in my account for 14th November. No surprise that when I checked there was no sign of the money. I called back only to be told the extension number the manager I had spoke to had given me was a fake and he had left no details on my account either. The sales adviser then told me I did not stand a chance of getting my £430 back. When I then asked for my call to be escalated further in line with their complaints procedure she finally admitted the existence of a complaints phone line. She reluctantly told me I would be called back within 48hours. 52 hours later and I've still not heard back. This has been dragging on for 3 months now and I really need that money back. The person behind the counter said he could sell me one for £10 if I was sure it would cure my problem. After another lengthy call to T-mobile technical that evening I returned to the shop the next day. After a lengthy wait (massive queue and staff members eating sandwiches in the back) I was told I couldn't buy a sim and would have to phone up and one would be sent out. I explained that the other person had said he could sell me one but this chap insisted he couldn't. This went on for 5 minutes before another member of staff pointed out that they aren't Orange anymore and they could sell T-mobile sim cards. JUST REALLY PLEASED I DIDN'T DRIVE ALL THE WAY HOME TO PHONE UP FOR ONE!! I dutifully sent off my cash back redemption form on the 23/08/12. I received no cheque. I phoned Phones 4 U and was promised that the money would be transferred to my account within 6 days, no £25 was deposited! I re contacted Phones 4 U on 24/09/12, again I was promised the money within 6 working days. Surprise surprise, no money was deposited. I started a Live Chat with Phones 4 U on 13/10/12 and was PROMISED that the money would be in my account by the 15/10/12 (All transcripts have been saved). Again no deposit. I contacted Phones for U for the FOURTH time yesterday. Phones 4 U apologised again and offered me a £35 compensation voucher for accessories. I insisted that I would prefer £25 cashback as I had no need for any accessories, to make up for all of my time wasted and the lies from customer services, my offer was turned down. I suggest that all customers that have been treated poorly by Phones 4 U complain to Ofcom who are already investigating the company. Also complain to Watchdog, these people should not be able to get away with such shoddy treatment of their customers. PS - For the record - this is the second time I have had to fight for the £25.00 Cashback. So i had a two year contract with Phones 4 u, (just to be clear i had never missed a payment and have all past billing documents) and this was due to expire. So i called phones 4 u and had the contract upgraded over the phone. Two hours later i decided this contract was not right for me, and that i would like to cancel it. I was told i could not. TWICE. 3 Hours later and after talking to their legal department, after quoting distance selling regulations, after quoting the cool off period. They decided to cancel it as a gesture of "goodwill" So a month later i receive a letter through from a debt collection agency saying i owe them £1200, No prior letter from o2 or P4u saying i had missed a payment, no simcard/mobile device received, absolutely nothing to indicate the contract was still in place. So the current progress i have been through was to contact o2, o2 said to contact p4u, P4u said they would look into the issue and contact me within 3-5 days, a week later still nothing so i called them. They are still investigation and apologies for not calling. I ask to speak to the legal team, they will contact me within 24-48 hours. In the mean time all of this is going on my credit report as missed payments to the debt collection agency, Any ideas on what to do next? Thanks.

Utterly dreadful service (again) from Vodafone

I have 3 phones on my Vodafone contract: My phone, my 18 year old son's phone and my 13 year old son's phone. Recently, My elder son went to Italy to help look after an elderly relative. Now, this wasn't a ploy to try and get out of paying the contract, but I rang the interestingly named "customer service" team at the big V, and asked if perhaps his contract could be transferred to Vodafone Italia. Same phone, same amount, just a different SIM for a different country. No way. So I asked if his contract could be suspended for a year until he returns, then we pick it up where he left off. No way. The best they could offer was that he could pay £3 a day and use his UK contract abroad. Of course, daddy's picking up the tab here so they seriously thought I would pay over a thousand pounds a year so my son can use his mobile phone abroad. This is a non-starter because I can't afford it. So, his phone sits here in the UK, unused, I pay £26 a month for it, and it's going nowhere. Yes I could end the contract by paying the rest of the contract now, but that's not an option for me financially. So we move on to my youngest son. For his 13th birthday in March I took out a contract for him for an HTC wildfire at £13 a month for two years. I signed up - everything ok. My son spent August in Italy with relatives. What I didn't realise was his phone had been enabled to be used abroad, and he proceeded to run up £240 worth of phone bill in August. I am furious that his phone was provisioned for use abroad - we did not request this to be done, and it's always been something I've had to ask for in the past. I spoke to Vodafone to be told they're not responsible for monitoring customer's phone bills. OK - that I accept, but I need to know: 1) As the main bill payer (noted on the contract) why wasn't I informed by text, email or phone call that my son's bill was going into orbit? 2) Why was his phone provisioned for abroad? 3) Given his usage and their inability (unwillingness) to do anything to alert me, why didn't they at least switch him to the £3 a day scheme, so that we'd now be looking at a £90 bill rather than a £240 bill? 4) They DO monitor usage, I know, so why didn't they do something when it became clear his monthly spend was approaching twenty times what it is normally? The advisor was less than helpful and didn't really want to know. I didn't monitor my son's bill online because I didn't know his phone was working abroad. As per usual, Vodafone are completely uninterested, unwilling to answer any questions and unwilling to do anything to help. Every contact with their inappropriately named "Customer services team" is a lesson in abject misery, with many menus and submenus to be negotiated before listening to 20 minutes of muzak, after which someone clearly following a script repeats the same mantra over and over in the hope I will go away and stop bothering him. This was acheived expertly by the advisor hanging up on me. No, I didn't swear or shout, I just expressed my disappointment at an organisation whose idea of customer care makes the average used car salesman look like the model of reasonableness and helpfulness. Ladies and Gentlemen - if you're after a contract, they'll be all smiles and help. After that, you're on your own, because if you want anything, heaven help you because they CERTAINLY won't. Very disappointed with them, not for the first time either. Their website is an object lesson in "how not to design a big corporate website" If you can, do yourself a favour and avoid. Regrettably I have little choice as their signal is the only one available in this village which just happens to be fairly close to their UK HQ. Avoid.

Moving to America with Orange Contract

I will be moving to America in a couple of months, with 13 months left on my 24 month contract with Orange.. Well onto my point. My husband has been with Vodafone for well over 10 years and a couple of years ago he managed to persuade me to leave O2 (having me being with them for about 15 years) to Vodafone 'you get better service' I was told, so i was suckered in to them, i could get the shiny new phone i wanted, on a cheaper contract, we have also since got a pay as you go sim for our daughter, and even have a dongle for internet all with the delightful Vodafone, all in hubbys name so he foots the bill and all was happy....... until now. My husband has got a job in Gibraltar (hurrah!), an English speaking country, with English money, English schools, basically a hot England, just luckily not English weather so obviously me and our daughter are going with him. As the phone is in his name he is left to deal with the delightful company i shall now refer to as the big V. So he goes to our local big v shop, explains where we are moving to, geographical locations is obviously not their strong point, we need to take our phones and use them, lets just transfer our address, nope can't be done we would have to pay about £50 to finish his contract and over £400 for mine, clearly not an answer we were wanting. So he starts on the telephone conversations, oh what fun that was, at least we got a similar answer but if we sold our phones we could get a £5 discount, wow. Ok forget the shop and the calls lets email they will understand, after all we are not moving to the moon. Not sure i could be anymore wrong, at the time of writing he is onto his 5th maybe 6th (to be honest I've lost count) email to someone completely different from the one before. It is a simple procedure and i don't think i am wrong in saying we aren't the first people in the world to ever move to a different country. We are moving to Gibraltar and would like to use our phones please big V. No we aren't paying the hundreds of ££ you want us to end our contracts, we are quite, sorry were quite happy to continue using them, no we aren't paying £3 a day each on top of our contracts in case our phone rings or even gets switched on we would like to do this in a honest above board manner. I think we have asked big V if their is life on mars as they simply have no idea what we are trying to say to them, maybe its just us being a little too clever for them. So all in all whilst having the huge stress of packing/selling everything we own we are now unsure about if our phones will work when we get there. We could always just cancel our direct debit when we are in Gibraltar and not pay at all, how are they going to find us ??????

Vodafone's dirty tricks....

I've been with vodafone for quite a long time and thought they care about loyal customers... Unfortunately... Anyway, I moved to 12 months SIM Only contract for £10 monthly line rental in December 2009, because didn't want lengthy 18 or 24 months contract. Great bargain – couldn’t be more happy. Everything was fine till I thought I should stay with vodafone further on and phoned customer service in December 2010 to take the identical contract for another year. Customer service advisor – lady – was quite polite and assured few times that the line rental stay £10 for the next 12 months if I stay with vodafone. She also offered second SIMO contract for my friends or family with £10/month line rental. I obviously agreed. 'That was easy' – I thought... Unfortunately I was wrong – I checked my January bill and was shocked – I was charged £20 for the line rental. Obviously, went straight on a phone to customer service, spent 20 minutes talking with someone who was not helpful at all and the result was – 'he couldn't do anything about it' and suggested to use webform for further enquiries'. Sent an email asking to check telephone conversation of that day when I upgraded the contract – still the same answer with the explanation: 'vodafone cannot do anything about it, because there was a discount from December 2009 to December 2010 which has expired now and the line rental is back to £20'. What a rubbish excuse!!! When I spoke to the lady in December 2010 there was not a single mention about any discounts etc. - she clearly said that my line rental will be £10/ month for the next 12 months in 2011. I didn't know about any discounts in my previous contract neither I do want to know that it has expired in the current one. I do not want to know and I shouldn't what is on vodafone's system – the fact is that I've been told and agreed to pay £10 for the line rental. It is a common sense – who would upgrade contract from £10 to £20 for the same amount of minutes and texts? It looks like vodafone implemented new strategy how to make more profit using dirty tricks and lies to it's loyal customers??? I sent couple of emails with the same request to check the telephone conversation which happened in December 2010 and every time vodafone cs representative replied me the same message – 'we checked your account and found that you line rental is £17.02 exl VAT bla bla...'. Obviously, nobody bothered to go through the records and look for the conversation which I requested. It looks like automated service... I quite enjoyed using vodafone for the last 8 years, but sad to say it's customer service is going down the hill. The last option would be to open the case with cisas or ofcom, but that is the very last one. I had similar case through cisas with virgin media couple of years ago, which I won, but the process took over three months. So could anyone please suggest some quicker ways of sorting my problem out - if obviously there are any left... Thank you Kind Regards Leen
