Not only is their service extremely poor. I was unable to connect to the internet for up to a week every month but when you cancel the contract they become all peevish and insist you return the "free" modem at your own expense or pay £30 for the piece of tat. They also disconnected me two weeks early and are refusing to give me a refund. I've told them to take me to court. I'd rather put them through the hassle of the small claims court with the possibility of losing and having to pay an extra £30 in costs than give in to their peevishness. Has anyone else had any disputes with Supanet? It could help me when it goes to the small claims.

The Supanet.com Broadband Discussion

We have launched this discussion forum to provide help, advice and support to all Supanet customers. Position your wireless router away from walls and metal or electronic devices which could cause loss of signal due to interference. 2. Changing the wireless signal channel/frequency may help as the current channel could be running on the same frequency as another device i.e. cordless phone. 3. Upgrade your wireless adapter, the one you currently have maybe a slower speed which won’t send information back to the router as quick. 4. Purchasing an Access Point will allow your wireless range to be extended by connecting this to your current router and positioning it in another location.

Supanet Windows Vista Router Setup

The following is the correct setup of the supanet router on windows vista. Please follow these instructions: You will require a filter plugged into your telephone socket. From the filter to the router you should have a RJ11 cable (Gray Cable). From the router (LAN1) to the ethernet card should be a RJ45 cable (ethernet cable). You will also need to connect the power supply (12v power supply) from the back of the router to an AC power outlet. Once you have followed these instructions you are ready to power up your router. There will be a power button on the back of the router which you will need to press. This is located next to your power supply socket on the router. Once your router is powered up you are ready to configure your pc and router to be used with the broadband router. First you should wait for your dsl_link light to go solid green this will indicate your router has made a connection with supanet. You should also have a solid green LAN light which will indicate that the ethernet cable is correctly connected to the router and pc. First you need to make sure you have no current dialers installed that may try redirecting your browser This is done in internet options. You will need to go onto Start->Right click network->Click Properties. This will open network and sharing center. Down the left side of the window is tasks at the bottom should be internet options, Click internet options. Select the Connections tab. At the top will be a white box under dial up and virtual private network settings. Remove any dialers that are located here by click the dialer and clicking the remove button (these will no longer be required as the router uses an ethernet connection). Next you need to make sure your ethernet card is setup correctly to pick up the router (only required in windows vista due to old firmware on the routers) You will need to go onto Start->Right click network->Click Properties. This will open network and sharing center, Down the left side of the window is tasks, click manage network connections. A new window will open and you should have local area connection here. (If there is a red cross over this icon then your ethernet cable is not connected correctly). *If there is no local area connection then their is a problem with the ethernet card or drivers, you will need to speak to your PC vendor* Right click local area connection and click properties, this will present you with the local area connection properties box. You should have a few tick boxes. All should be ticked except Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) If this protocol is ticked untick it. Next you need to setup the IP address for the network card. Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) this will then highlight in blue and click properties. You should currently be set to obtain ip addresses automatically. Move the dot down to use the following ip address Put the information in as below: IP Address: 192.168.1.100 - If you have muliple PC's on the network change the forth octet to 101, 102, 103 ext depending on how many pc's you have. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 Below default gateway should be another dot that needs moving to use the following DNS server addresses. Prefered DNS server: 192.168.1.1 Alternative DNS server: Leave this blank Select ok on all boxes and return to the desktop. You will then be required to configure the router. Open up your internet explorer or your default internet browser. And in the address bar type http://192.168.1.1 This will then bring up your connect to box which requires a username and password which by default are set to Username: admin Password: (supplied with your order) (If these don't allow you to access the router hold in the reset button on the back of the router for 20 seconds and then release. This will set the router settings to factory settings) Once you have successfully logged into the router. In the top right corner will be a quick start button click this and run wizard. You will be required to input an admin password, change this to something you won't forget, then click next. Time zone needs to be set to GMT Greenwich mean time then click next. Connection type needs to be set to PPPoE/PPPoA then click next. You will then be required to input your account information in Username: username AT domain - username provided by supanet Password: password - password provided by supanet VPI - 0 VCI - 38 Connection type: PPPoA VC-MUX Then click next it will require you to save your settings and click close. Once this is complete I recommend you run the maintenance on the router page and diagnostics, this is below maintenance, and it should PASS all the information. If this does not pass on all the information I recommend you contact our Broadband technical support line. Once these have been removed you need to go back to the control panel>network connections. Network connections should have your local area connection which is your ethernet card. Right click local area connection and click status Your status should say its connected if your ethernet cable is correctly connected to your pc and router. You will then need to select the support tab next to the general tab. Address type should read as : Assigned by DHCP If this reads anything different you need to go general tab and properties. In here should be Internet protocol (TCP/IP) double click this and make sure both settings are set to obtain IP and DNS automatically. Once they are set to this you can click ok and return to local area connection and the support tab. Your ip address should read : 192.168.x.x this can vary Default gateway should be set to : 192.168.1.1 If these settings are correct then your ethernet card is correctly set. So given that I just wanted to say that these guys, thus far, truly float my boat. Admitidly I've only been with the company for three months but I've found my service faster, more reliable and generally better than with previous ISP providers who I guess I shouldn't name. And their cheap, on calls too. I hear they offer more too, but it all goes above my head. All this Voip calling malarkey and things like that. Not looked into that yet though. Got a plamtop I inherited from my father and be well up for using it, even if it is just a case of shineyitus. Be interested to hear about what good experiences readers of this post have had with Supanet and the what you can tell me about all this new age tech?

Supanet

Hi guys, I've recently moved house and had my internet fitted. Supanet are my ISP. So being a nosey little sod I thought I'd check out there hype now I'm back online. Would have been great to look see before hand, but time really wasn't there. And I find it's not good, that the gossip surrounding this company sounds a little poor. But I've had no trouble myself and been on now for about 3 months after a quick and efficient connection that sorted me out with cheaper calls. So can anyone really give me the low down, as this bad press seems old, most of it a good five years. I don't want to tempt fate but I do want to know the score and figured this was the best place to ask (though if anyone knows a more appropriate thread / site please let me know) Cheers gents.

Stay Away from Supanet

It is time this firm was closed down, they were in liquidation in 2006 so will be used to it. I am writing to companies house about them now. They do not tell the truth, are far too quick to add charges and aggressive. Most of the staff cannot spell or lack the courtesy to bother. I am defending a case they intend to bring and my letter to the debt collection agency follows, but if anyone wants to share an action against them for the many breaches of the law they commit please let me know. In the meantime stay away from them. To the debt collectors Thank you for your letter of the 3rd September ’08 advising me (before the 21st September as requested) that Supanet wish to go to court over this matter. My solicitor is somewhat surprised as apparently they (and you now) are acting contrary to Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970. I repeat that I do not owe Supanet anything since they broke the contract and in fact they owe me £59.96 for the direct debits they helped themselves to after breaking the contract. You enclosed a slip from them which is totally erroneous and full of lies. In one important respect I must state my case now. I can prove, since I have the emails, that I was in contact with Supanet months before I moved asking what I needed to do. They did not reply and when pushed did not mention anything about “residue” on the line. Section 6.4 of their contract says that if for reasons “outside of our control” [sic] “you are unable to receive the Service at your new premises we will refund any charges etc etc.” it does not say “we will continue to steal money from your account using the direct debit you gave us”. It does say they will charge a disconnection fee. However, it appears from the note you sent me that Supanet could provide a service, which is what BT told me. Therefore they broke their contract since it was “a simple case of calling a specific BT number and asking them to clear the line”. Supanet continue “we would then have been able to provide the service”. Supanet say “had our customer contacted us when we sent the email to inform them of this we would have told them how to resolve this” This is one of their lies, I did contact them and they said (and the next bit is copied and pasted) “We have spoken to our systems department and advise that unfortunately you are correct, your [sic] are unable to have Broadband at your new address” This also is untrue as I have broadband working well now. I also suggest you ask to see a copy of the “signed slip” they say I returned. The organisation is corrupt, I advise you contact Money Supermarket and other organisations on the web and search for Supanet, you will see I am joined by dozens of others in believing this. I am sorry Daniels Silverman is tarred with their brush because you, at least, have the honesty to provide a registered office address on your letters. I shall not respond to letters from you or the debt collector at Supanet. I will respond to one of the directors of Supanet if they are prepared to provide proof of their position. I was disgusted with Supanet and ashamed to have been associated with people of their calibre, I remain ashamed but am now angry too, my solicitor has details regarding the company’s insolvency in 2006. At that time I considered moving to a new provider but was assured by an employee that Supanet had had no legal connection with Time computers. My whole contract with Supanet was based on that misrepresentation, and I do not like being conned. yours etc

£50 for a MAC code stay away from Supanet

I wanted to leave my existing supernet provider (supernet) I have been with them for 6 years now but when leaving they want £50 for the MAC code.
