I would discourage anyone from using them, we only made 3 claims in 10 years, and they were slow to process each claim, but never slow to ask for money!!

How do you get money from E and L pet insurance?

Help! Earlier this year I took out a policy with E and L pet insurance for my 8 year old cocker spaniel. I was pleased that it was so cheap and I was able to pay the amount in full instead of monthly payments, my first mistake! About a month later he started limping so I rang E and L to confirm I would be covered for any treatment because the policy was so new, they said that this was all fine and they was nothing to worry about so to cut a long story short I took him to the vets, the bill was nearly £300 and he now has arthritus. After 6 months of battling with E and L for my money back they decided they needed to know the Exact time and date that my dog started limping! I contacted them saying I didnt really know so the lad on the phone told me to guess, so between me and him we came up with a date. E and L decided that this date was too late and I must of meant the month before therefore I was not covered for the treatment because of the date the policy started. Amazingly enough they had every telephone call recorded that I made to them......... apart from the first one of course where they agreed that my dog would be covered! I have also had further problems with them but this is getting too long already! but to be frank they are just a rip off! They take your money upfront and when you try to claim they will not pay out! However they have given me 6 months to appeal the decision, not that it will make any difference to these rip off merchants as no doubt they will come up with another excuse not to pay out, but does anybody have any ideas on how to re-claim some money???????? Loz

pet insurance

there are pros and cons for insuring your pets. Recently one of my dogs became ill and after exhaustive and very expensive tests for underactive thyroid, diabetes and cushings disease - we have definitely settled on diabetes and the cushings is still under review. Over the past 2 months I have spent over £1000 on medication and tests. If she does have Cushings as well as diabetes her medication will be in the region of £100 per month. I do not have insurance, she is 10 years old and has never been ill in her life up to this point. However when discussing my 'error' in not having insurance with several people I have been told that she would have, in effect, ceased to have been insured anyway because of her age. It seems that when the risk of claims becomes more real there are get out clauses for insurance companies.

Pet insurance

Can anyone tell me the point of Pet insurance when the bill always seems to come to a pound or two just below the excess. I am hopping mad to discover that the cover only provides one year of treatment for each ailment.. We have a 7 yr old Rottweiler who has has been insured since he was 8 weeks old. We pay £26.71/month to E & L. We recently adopted another Rotty a couple of years younger who is not yet insured so I decided to do a search using the older dogs age to see if we could save some money. Cheapest quote (using this site) was £15 odd for Bronze cover. Same company's most expensive option was Diamond cover at £17.50. The company? E & L. Firstly, how can they justify this and does this happen in other areas of insurance? I'm thinking of cancelling the policy and reapplying as a new customer. There's no reason why I can't do this is there?

Pet Insurance - Whats The Point?

After watching a piece on GMTV last week i was astounded to find that the fastest growing crime in Britain is Dog Napping - What is the world coming to? Obviously I want value for money but I also want to know that Mummy's little angels are going to be covered for any event and that the insurer won't get out of paying hefty vets bills on the technicality of their policy wording.
