Re: Would you put your ISA into Halifax/RBS?

Sorry I completely forgot that said that I would update you all with my experiences with Halifax concerning a Transfer in of "ex ICESAVE" Isa balances (See my last post of 18/12/08).

Eventually I got confirmation from Halifax that the Account was opened and that all the ex ICESAVE funds had been credited to it (approx £33k).

HOWEVER because of the delay, the fixed rate of 5.75% was no longer available and they gave me only 4.5% fixed for 12 months, but to compensate for the difference in rates, thay have added £424.66 extra to the balance (which equates to my initial investment amount times 1.25%).

The figures do cross check, but the proof of the pudding will be when the initial period of 12 months is up to check if everything has been correctly done. Only time will tell!!

When I read what I'm just writing it makes me realise how dreadful the current rates available are, how long will it be before the Government, the Bank of England etc acknowledge that the current rates do not reward thrifty savers and that Rates need to increase to restablish the "savings habit".

    Good luck to all

    John
