Re: what is average gas consumption based on?

The average consumption figures of 20,500 kWh for gas and 3,300kWh for Electricity are supplied by Ofgem/Energywatch. They have remained unchanged for at least 2 years and are probaly understated. If you live in flat or a small new energy efficient house your consumption should however be less. I always recommend that customers try to enter accurate consumption or annual spend figures into our comparison service in order to get a true idea of the best products to select. Given that you are new to the UK maybe you could get that information from the previous owners of the property. If that information is not available to you I would suggest selecting the average If you choose to pay be direct debit but your first bill indicates that you are paying too much you can ask your supplier to reduce the amount of the DD Paul
